Friendly to dogs ... but not their owners? Last month, mylife.com named Las Vegas the second-best city in the country for dogs, due to its dog parks, veterinarians, pet stores and weather. That’s great, but earlier in May, Smart Growth America and the National Complete Streets Coalition named Las Vegas the 13th most dangerous city for pedestrians. So we’ve got plenty of amenities for your pup ... just don’t try taking it for a walk. —Ken Miller

Necessary pain Steel piping and plywood walls hinder the overpass between Cosmopolitan and the Shops at Crystals. It’s happening for exactly the reason you think: The Harmon is coming down. MGM Resorts officials confirmed this week the deconstruction process—not an implosion—is under way, meaning the street-level sidewalk at the southwest corner of Harmon and Las Vegas Boulevard is closed. It sucks, but at least—and at last—the Harmon will be erased. —Brock Radke

Water wars The Valley’s water park war will soon begin, when new-kid-on-the-block Cowabunga Bay starts competing against Las Vegas classic Wet ‘n’ Wild later this month. Really, though, the Super Soaker shots have already been fired. Wet ‘n’ Wild recently revealed this season’s addition of reduced “twilight admission” tickets, which will go up against Cowabunga’s previously announced “summer nights” promo. Both are $20—so where are you going to soak up the sunset? —Mark Adams
