Bars are starting to open in Las Vegas, but if you prefer to stay indoors a little longer, this weekend’s Pour in the Alley has you covered.
The local event, hosted by Fergusons Downtown, is pairing up with CraftHaus Brewery for a virtual tasting on Friday, May 15, and with Garagiste Wine Room for a virtual tasting on Saturday, May 16.
For folks who want to imbibe IRL, Garagiste opens its doors to the public starting May 14, and CraftHaus opens both taprooms on May 15, the first time since the city shut down nonessential businesses in March.
Curbside pickup for the CraftHaus at-home beer tasting will be available on Friday, May 15, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Arts District location (197 E. California St. #130) and features four 12 oz. cans (Evocation, Zitrone, Resinate and Belgard), plus one 24.5 oz. All Together growler can and a “Mangonada” kit with mango nectar, Tajin and a candy chili straw. The $45 pack also comes with a large spelt grain pretzel bowl with cheese. A vegan option is included.
CraftHaus’ virtual online tour begins at 6 p.m., followed by a one-hour tasting class, all done online from the comfort of your own home.
Additionally, curbside pickup for the at-home wine tasting will be available at Garagiste (197 E. California Ave. #140) on May 15, with the wine tasting on the following day, May 16, at 7 p.m. The $75 package includes two bottles of wine from the Brewer-Clifton Estate—a 2018 Chardonnay and a 2016 Syrah—plus a meat and cheese tasting from Cured & Whey.
Those who want to stretch their legs on Friday can do so at both CraftHaus taprooms, which will be open from 2-10 p.m. with no bar seating.
Inside tables will be six feet apart and outdoor seating will be available, and customers can expect bartender service tableside, according to a social media post. CraftHaus staff will be wearing masks, and disposable cups and tableware will be used. To-go and curbside pickup is still available at both locations during taproom hours.
Similarly, Garagiste will be open for outside patio service to groups of four and under on Thursday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Paradise City Creamery’s ice cream cart will also make an appearance on Fridays and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Garagiste co-owner Eric Prato says the wine room has plans to continue the virtual tastings every Saturday “for the foreseeable future,” with online events already slotted for May 23 and 30. “We’re just going to kind of take it and see how it goes and see if there’s still demand for it,” Prato says. “It’s been a positive response so far. We enjoy doing it; it’s another way for us to educate and expose people to new things.”
Garagiste continues to offer curbside pickup Thursday through Sunday from 2-8 pm., with local delivery on Thursday and Friday.
