Quick Bites: Las Vegas restaurants making news this week

The Boss Café by Buddy Valastro at the Linq is celebrating its first birthday this week by giving out its signature fresh mozzarella with any sandwich or bakery pizza purchase through Sunday, April 30. Limit is one per order. The Boss Café is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Duck Donuts has opened at the Grand Bazaar Shops at Horseshoe Las Vegas and will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony April 28 at 10 a.m. The fast-growing franchise features scratch-made doughnuts topped to order and served warm, along with coffee and espresso drinks, doughnuts sundaes, breakfast sandwiches and more. The Strip shop is open daily from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m.

Gaetano’s in Henderson is teaming with Empson & Co. Importers to host a five-course wine dinner highlighting the diversity of Italian wines on April 28 at 7 p.m. The menu will feature dishes selected to match each style, including calamari fritti topped with Caesar salad served with Bucci Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, and pistachio-crusted lamb with La Casematte Faro DOC. Tickets are $125 and reservations are available by calling 702-361-1661.

DW Bistro will host another installment of “Divas Brunch” with legendary Las Vegas headliner Frank Marino at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. April 30. Ferraro’s Ristorante will host Sotto Le Stelle on May 19 at 6:30 p.m., a collaborative event with El Septimo Cigars featuring cocktails, premium wines, an aged bourbon and rum tasting, a selection of dishes and luxury cigars on the restaurant’s patio. Tickets cost $395 and space is limited; for reservations, call 702-364-5300.

Eataly Las Vegas at Park MGM is hosting a special pop-up through the summer featuring an exclusive menu of house-made sweets at Il Gelato. Among the offerings are affogatos pairing gelatos and sorbettos with espressos and liqueurs, and Italian-style gelato sundaes. Il Gelato is open Sunday through Thursday from noon until 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon until 11 p.m.

Coop’s Cabaret in Commercial Center on East Sahara has hired Matthew Underwood as executive chef. Underwood has worked in Beverly Hills at A Cow Jumped Over the Moon and in Las Vegas at Gaetano’s, Ferraro’s and more. He will be crafting new menus at Coops, including for the new OMG Vegas Cabaret Brunch on select Saturdays.

Carmine’s at the Forum Shops at Caesars has launched weekend brunch, available Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Featured dishes include Tuscan French toast with vanilla and orange zest, steak and eggs, caprese frittata and a build-your-own mimosa bar. The regular menu is also available during brunch hours.

Vic’s Las Vegas in Symphony Park has introduced a new happy hour menu available daily from 2 until 5 p.m. Well drinks, house wine and draft beers are $7 and special items ranging from $5 to $11 include fried ravioli, half pizzas, rigatoni bakes, bruschetta and sliders.

Balla Italian Soul at Sahara Las Vegas has added new seasonal dishes and cocktails to its menu, including: grilled lamb sausage with almonds, charred eggplant and snap peas; steamed mussels with pancetta, preserved lemon and green garlic butter; house-made rotolo pasta with rabe, pecorino and morels; and the Show Girl, with Tito’s vodka, Sakura vermouth, coconut cream and Barolo Chinato.
