Quick Bites: Las Vegas restaurants making news this week

Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Sports Kitchen is set to open at Horseshoe Las Vegas this summer. The new venue, designed by Aria Group Architects, will be a 6,540-square-foot space seating 279 with a 360-degree island bar and lots of LED screens for sports viewing. It will be Fieri’s third Las Vegas restaurant with Caesars Entertainment, following his Vegas Kitchen & Bar at the Linq and El Burro Borracho at the Rio.

Ojos Locos Sports Cantina is set to open on February 6 in North Las Vegas as part of the newly rebranded Hotel Jefe, billed as the first U.S. hotel and casino dedicated to the Latino community. Ojos Locos will seat 300 with a rustic, welcoming vibe reminiscent of beachside bars at Mexico’s coastal resorts, including a 35-seat video poker bar. For more information, visit hoteljefe.com.

Veteran chef Francesco Di Caudo will be at the helm of the new Basilico Ristorante Italiano at Evora when it opens in March. The upscale restaurant in the southwest development will feature an indoor-outdoor bar and a live performance stage along with a modern Italian menu and creative cocktails. Azzurra Cucina Italiana is scheduled to open on February 1 on Water Street in Henderson. The new restaurant was created by architect Windom Kimsey and his wife Annelisa Polk, and the cuisine comes from local chef Allessandra Madeira and her husband, manager Walter Ciccone. Nielsen’s Frozen Custard is set to expand from Henderson to Summerlin with the opening of a food court location at the Red Rock Resort on February 3. Signature flavors available at the new store will include Brumbleberry, Cherry Chocolate Chip, Caramel Cashew and more. The grand opening begins at noon and will include giveaways and prizes. Legendary chef Bradley Ogden has joined the team at Marche Bacchus as culinary director, bringing his talent and vision to the Las Vegas Valley for the first time in a decade. “He will bring a new culinary chapter and value to our restaurant as well as delight our guests’ palates,” Marche Bacchus co-owner Rhonda Wyatt said in a statement. “We are excited to feature some of his famed signature dishes to our menu and evolve with his esteemed culinary expertise.” Ogden famously pioneered farm-to-table dining on the Strip at his eponymous restaurant at Caesars Palace and later teamed with his son Bryan Ogden to open Hops & Harvest at Tivoli Village.

Clean Juice hosted a grand opening event for its first Las Vegas location on January 31 at 4195 S. Grand Canyon Drive. The celebration continues this week with special discounts such as 50% off toasts and pink cold-pressed juices on February 1. The fast-casual juice bar is owned and operated by Anbreen Khan. Zuma at the Cosmopolitan has launched a new omakase menu available through the end of February. Starting at $248 per person, the premium experience features dishes such as truffle butter edamame, Alaskan king crab with ponzu lime butter, Japanese A5 Wagyu, roasted lobster and more. Kassi Beach House at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has launched a new menu created by executive chef Josh Stockton full of Italian favorites reminiscent of coastal trattorias. Among the new brunch and dinner dishes are beet salad with sheep’s milk feta, the Pear Formaggio and Bianca pizzas, mushroom carbonara, and a new three-course family-style meal of chef’s selections for four or more guests starting at $60 per person.

Ferraro’s Ristorante has unveiled three new tasting menus available for dinner, including two four-course menus and a pasta-tasting menu crafted by executive chef Mimmo Ferraro. Ada’s Wine Bar at Tivoli Village will host its first wine dinner of the year on February 16 at 6:30 p.m. featuring Spanish varietals from Jose Pastor Selections. Tickets for the paired five-course dinner cost $160 and can be purchased at adaslv.com.
