Lotus of Siam has found a new location to open up while its original Commercial Center spot is being repaired after its roof collapsed due to heavy rain in September. The legendary Thai restaurant is planning to resume business in the first week of November at 620 E. Flamingo Road, the former home of Roy’s Restaurant near the corner of Flamingo and Paradise.

“This is the closest location for all of our guests that come in from out of town,” says manager Penny Chutima. The second Lotus will be just minutes from the Strip, whereas the 19-year-old original is farther north at Sahara Avenue near Maryland Parkway.

Chutima had previously told Las Vegas Weekly that the Vegas restaurant institution was looking for a temporary space, but now the plan is to reopen the original Lotus as soon as possible and continue operating both locations. She said the same full menu will be served at the new spot.

The Flamingo site’s seating capacity and square footage are a bit smaller, but there are three private dining rooms and the possibility of using a full bar, so the operators are considering later hours there. No word yet on when the original Lotus might reopen.
