Quick Bites: F the Bar, Rosa Ristorante, Brezza, Sand Dollar Downtown and more Vegas food news

One of the most popular members of the local vegan restaurant community has served its last meal. Violette’s Vegan closed permanently after service on April 20 after seven years of business. A social media post stated: “We know we are leaving everyone in amazing hands with 20+ vegan restaurants now in operations in the Valley. What a journey this has been!”

F the Bar is now open at Fergusons Downtown, offering an intimate craft cocktail experience from 3 p.m. until midnight Thursday and Friday, and from noon until midnight Saturday and Sunday. General manager Erica Bell anchors the service and beverage program that includes natural, low-intervention wines, featured canned beers, a mocktail menu and original libations. More than 50 live plants serve as the main décor element, with cozy banquettes, family-style highboys and a social bar creating different options. F the Bar will also provide pop-up food offerings Saturdays from noon until 6 p.m. and Sundays from 7 to 10 p.m.

Wynn Las Vegas has opened the renovated Aft Cocktail Deck and Bar Parasol, two lounges located just beneath the also recently refreshed Overlook Lounge at the edge of the property’s Lake of Dreams. Both spaces were designed by Todd-Avery Lenahan and feature cocktail menus from Mariena Mercer Boarini. Aft is outdoors on the lake, featuring swivel deck chairs, banquettes and nautical flags and umbrellas, while Bar Parasol is just inside in the former Parasol Down space, where guests can also enjoy caviar-inspired bites and cocktails.

Rosa Ristorante is set to make its debut on April 27 near St. Rose Parkway and Eastern Avenue. The Italian-American restaurant comes from executive chef and owner Rob Moore, formerly of Bellagio’s Prime and Aria’s Jean Georges Steakhouse, working with general manager David Oseas and chef de cuisine Andy Gomez. The menu will offer “comforting yet refined dishes” including cheesy risotto fritters, beef carpaccio, spicy pepperoni pizza, linguine and white clam sauce, tagliatelle Bolognese and more. Rosa will be open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3 until 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 3 until 10 p.m.

Hofbräuhas Las Vegas is celebrating National Pretzel Day with its third celebrity pretzel eating content on April 29 starting at 6:30 p.m. Contestants include magician Farrell Dillon, Fantasy performer Mariah Rivera, food social media star Raina Huang, comedian and singer Sarah Hester Ross and defending champion Jeff Civillico. The winner will be rewarded with $1,000 for their favorite local charity and they’ll get to tap the keg to officially celebrate the day of the pretzel.

Somm Sunday is back at Ada’s Wine Bar at Tivoli Village on May 1 from 3 until 7 p.m. This week’s special guest is Robb Horesovsky, sommelier and fine wine portfolio manager at Vin Sauvage, who will bring curated specials to pair with dishes from Ada’s kitchen and guide tastings, which can be purchased by the glass or as a flight. Brezza at Resorts World launches its new Sunday brunch program on May 1, featuring seating in the dining room and on the olive tree-lined patio, live entertainment from local singer Christina Amato and a jazz trio, and a refreshed menu of Italian dishes and drinks. Some of the offerings include chilled octopus salad, big eye tuna with preserved Meyer lemon, fresh-baked pastries, Tuscan beef tartare, salt-roasted potato gnocchi, spring pea agnolotti, a frittata with fiore di Latte and candied tomatoes and more.

The Plaza has announced the second location of the Sand Dollar Lounge will open at the Downtown casino in early May. Free nightly entertainment from local bands and national headliners accompanied by hand-crafted cocktails, pizza and pool will be among the offerings. Grand opening celebrations are slated to begin on May 26 continuing through Memorial Day weekend. The 4,000-square-foot space will hold approximately 300 guests.

North Italia in the Summerlin area has unveiled new dishes and cocktail for spring, including the caprese sandwich, hanger steak taliata, a sweet corn and fontina side dish, the bomba-style pizza, Tucano punch and more.
