Preserving and sharing stories of the deep roots, daring adventures, and fascinating lives of many centuries of Nevadans, the Nevada Historical Society’s archives are home to scores of materials, from photos and newspapers to hand-written memories, chronicling the riveting rise of the Silver State. Located on the University of Nevada Reno campus and founded in 1904, the Nevada Historical Society is also home to the American Gaming Archives, a comprehensive collection of artifacts from gaming establishments, both legal and illegal, across the U.S.

The Nevada Historical Society’s mission is to collect, preserve, and educate the public about our shared history through exhibitions, artifacts, books, photographs, and manuscript materials relating to the state of Nevada, the Great Basin, and the West.
