Chris Shivers’ 2000 season saw him become the first bull rider to win three consecutive premier series events, as well as tie the then-highest-scoring ride in PBR history with 96.5 points aboard Jim Jam. He finished the season with $351,534, becoming the first bull rider in the PBR to eclipse $1 million in career earnings.

Three years later, Shivers won the 2003 world title and became the first bull rider to ever win the $1 million bonus given to a PBR World Champion. The title race was a battle between Shivers and Justin McBride. Though McBride finished slightly ahead of Shivers at the World Finals, Shivers edged McBride in the final standings and finished the season with $1,202,478 in earnings.

Shivers and Little Yellow Jacket faced off earlier that season in one of the most memorable matchups in PBR history. The duo squared off at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with $1 million on the line for Shivers. However, Shivers was unable to conquer the bovine athlete and failed to secure the $1 million payday.

The Jonesville, Louisiana, bull rider retired in 2012 with the most 90-point rides in PBR history (93) after qualifying for the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas 15 times and posting over 400 qualified rides. He was inducted into the PBR Ring of Honor in 2013.
