Cocktail of the Week

New Fashioned

Twin Creeks, The Silverton, $10

Bourbon Heritage Month continues with the Silverton’s take on the classic Old Fashioned, traditionally made with an orange slice, lemon twist and maraschino cherries. “Created by master mixologist John DuPont, perfected by Joseph Hutchinson,” says a Twin Creeks rep, the New Fashioned employs a lighter-style, more approachable bourbon, substituting the traditional sugar cube with simple syrup, and introducing fresh summer/fall crossover fruits.

Mixology: New Fashioned

Ingredients:

Two each, fresh raspberries and strawberries

1.5 oz. Basil Hayden’s Bourbon

.5 oz. simple syrup

6 dashes Paychaud’s bitters

Method:

In the bottom of your glass, muddle the fruit with the syrup. Fill glass with crushed ice and tamp down gently. Add bourbon and bitters, then stir from the bottom up to combine the fruit with the rest of the cocktail. Garnish with a skewer of fresh raspberries and blueberries.
