DIGITAL TONY: Memorial Weekend Madness

Holiday craziness all around with new clubs opening and old clubs partying

Antonio Llapur

It's that time of the year again, Memorial Day weekend, and that means the clubs' official summer launch.

This weekend, the main excitement is at the Hard Rock with the opening of its new club, Body English. Hard Rock started the season right with the launch of its insanely cool Rehab Sunday pool parties, so I'm hoping this will keep the streak alive.

While Body English opens this weekend, the actual grand-opening parties are June 11 and 12, with a performance on June 11 from Velvet Revolver.

Show some skin

A Vegas tradition continues as Club Rubber's Summer of Love gets cracking Sunday at the Palms Rain Nightclub and Skin pool lounge. This year's dynamite lineup features the great Rich "Humpty" Vission, Vegas' own DJ Noey, Playmate jock Colleen Shannon, DJ Beej, Eric Cubiche, Danny Love, 4Real, and let's not forget the lovely Rubber Dolls.

Movin' on up

In keeping with the sunny theme, it's Rise and Shine after-hours atop the Rio's VooDoo Lounge. The new Rise and Shine, brought to you by Clique Entertainment, Vegas Alliance and Danny B Productions, features DJ Ivano Bellini on Friday and Saturday and DJ Max Graham on Sunday. Doors open at 3 a.m. and it should be a total blast.

If that ain't enough ...

Ice has got a full weekend of big-name DJ fun. First up Friday are DJs Riz, Finesse and fan favorite Jonathan Peters. Saturday, it's Godskitchen with none other than Armin van Buren. Wrapping up the weekend, look for Hot 97's own DJ Enuff.

At Plush inside the JW Marriott, they've got a sunset luau Sunday with the tropical sounds of the Blue Hawaiians. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 10.

Over at Ra on Friday, it's the Naked LA Love Festival Tour with international DJs, including Terry Mullan, Swedish Egil, DJ Ruff, DJ Reza and Adam Rush. You can catch MTV's DJ Skribble Saturday. The club also will be open Sunday with resident DJs Create and Phaness.

Finally, over at the MGM, the big news is Madonna. But she isn't the only fun. Club Space Miami's DJ Bellini has another performance at Tabú on Thursday, while Stretch Armstrong takes over the decks at Studio 54 on Sunday. Also at Tabú on Sunday, DJ Frankie steps away from promotion for Slide, jumping on the decks for an old-skool set.
