DIGITAL TONY: Labor For The People

Here’s what’s going down Labor Day weekend

Antonio Llapur

Labor Day is one of Las Vegas' banner holiday weekends. Every year, hundreds of thousands pack the Strip like an army of vicious canned sardines. And every year, the parties get crazier and crazier.

My party started early, with a trip Sunday to Paris' Risqué. Risqué has undergone sweeping management and promoter changes, giving the club a new vibe. I had one of the most outstanding times ever. They had free champagne for VIPs at the door, live cabaret acts from Risqué's deliciously sexy Vamp Girlie Revue, and a fantastic local crowd. The music was right on, with rock and hip hop in the main room and house and hip hop in the swanky lounge. "Zee" Zarnaz and her team have done a stellar job. They've got house music all weekend too, a rarity on the Strip. This Friday, Risqué and Uptown magazine present the Pajama Jam Party, hosted by Farnsworth Bentley and Andre Harrell of Uptown Records. A swanky party with P. Diddy's butler! Now, if only we'd get one hosted by Batman's Alfred.

At the Palms, the festivities rev up Thursday at Ghostbar with a charity event hosted by the town's sexiest anchor, Channel 3's Nina Radetich. If a Lois Lane fetish isn't enough to get you out, there's also a performance by Uncle Kracker. Tickets are $50 general, $75 VIP. Later, stop by Rain Nightclub to check out the rock and hip hop sounds from DJ StoneRokk. And how could I forget Club Rubber Sunday at Rain and Skin and the world-famous Pimp 'N Ho ball Saturday at the Orleans.

Ice has enough events to make your head spin. Friday: Scooter and Lavelle, DJ Boris and more. Saturday: Little Louie Vega. Sunday: Paul Oakenfold. Keep an eye out for the cameras filming the Spike TV reality show, The Club.

Let's not forget Moorea. This Sunday, Clique Entertainment, Danny B, Dean May and Rick Calamaro have The White Party—and a b-day bash for Clique's Alex Cordova. Wish Alex a happy one, and try not to spill your cocktails.

BiKiNiS gets into the Labor Day act with Kid Capri Thursday and Friday, when he'll be joined by the Girls Gone Wild crew for Cherry Bomb.

Studio 54 has a party Sunday hosted by adult film star Houston, and music by Grammy-winning DJ Chris Cox and DJs P and Leo Teo. I goofed last week listing 54's dynamite Open Forum parties. I don't know what I was smoking, but that party's not until the 19th.

On tap for next week: Sleep—lots and lots of sleep.
