The Usual Suspects

This fall, things heat up at Palms, 54 and Ice

Antonio Llapur

The first real party of the season kicks off this weekend with the last Palms Beach Sunday and the finals for the exciting search for the first Palms Girl. It gets cooking at 7:30 p.m. at the Skin Pool Lounge. There'll be music from Rain Nightclub residents ROB and Hollywood, a fashion show, and of course, the debut of the new face of the Palms. And did I mention that one of the best bands in the land, Maroon 5 will be headlining at Rain that very evening? Should be a hell of a party!

Speaking of hell, ever since I was a little kid, I would spend months prepping my Halloween costume. Guess what? I haven't changed, and the festivities at MGM's Studio 54 is the only way to party on All Hallow's Eve. The Studio 54 geniuses aren't content with just one night of fun—the club dedicates an entire week to the blessed holiday. This year, it starts October 26 with Hallow-EDEN. Watch as Studio 54 goes from being the most solid club in town to a nightmarish fun house filled with thrills, chills and all kinds of sexy fun. The 27th, it's Psycho-Tryst, and the 28th it's the 38th annual Beaux Arts Charity Costume Ball, benefiting Golden Rainbow, helping locals with HIV/AIDS. Cash prizes will be awarded for best costumes. On the 31st, it's Nightmare on 54th Street, with live performances, costume contests, and a total transformation of the club. If you miss this, you've missed Halloween.

Over at Ice, at Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane, fall is about the metaclub's sweeping changes. In case you hadn't heard, Ice has undergone a total change in management. Rejoining the team is long-time Vegas scenester, promoter and world-class DJ, Michael Fuller. Even more exciting is the new deal between Ice and Godskitchen, the largest, most respected name in global nightclub entertainment. And there's the October debut of The Club, the Ice-based reality show on Spike. It's going to be an exciting few months at Ice, especially for electronica fans who lament much of the top 40 and hip hop at the casino clubs.
