THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I'm in a skyscraper with my family. Suddenly, there's a bomb. On a big screen, the president tells us the building is going to fly into some other large structure and people will die and, "It's part of my plan." When the building flies through space, everyone is sitting on the ground waiting for the collision. My family is behind me. I make eye contact with my mom and feel like, "Whatever happens, it'll be all right."

Ashley, 21

Lauri: The building symbolizes what you've "built" in your life and the bomb indicates a major shift. The president personifies the part of you that "presides" over your affairs and makes tough decisions. Your inner mind says, "You have a plan." Do you plan to move, just as the building moves to another large structure? The people who will die are the relationships and other things in your life that will end once you make that move. Just as your family was behind you in your dream, so are they "behind" your decision. Everything is gonna be just fine!

Ashley replies: I'm amazed how such a bizarre dream could make so much sense when interpreted! I'm a college student trying to decide where to transfer after this semester.

ARIES
(March 21-April 20)

Mercury goes direct Saturday, and the New Moon's in Sagittarius, which should prove beneficial to your travel and career plans. Moon also trines Saturn (in Leo) today (December 1), which creates a grand trine with Aries and sets you up nicely for smooth sailing (or flying) this week. In general, this is a week for practical rams hoping to score an unexpected client or a larger paycheck. Don't be afraid to let your customer or boss know exactly what you want: Your fire-sign homies have your back. Love: no need to play games; Career: you're a hero; Health: an apple a day ...

TAURUS
(April 21-May 21)

It's an earthy weekend, as Capricorn Moon Friday night conjuncts Pluto for a power rush, and on Saturday afternoon as Moon sextiles Uranus and Jupiter trines Mars (in Taurus), you garner praise from colleagues and perhaps even an offer you can't resist, on the career front. If Mars were not retrograde, you might just take over the world, but as luck would have it, Mercury goes direct anyway on Saturday, and pushes you way forward. Don't miss this opportunity to shine. Love: conquers all; Career: you're a winner; Health: holding up nicely under the stress.

GEMINI
(May 22-June 21)

Good news: Mercury goes direct Saturday, always a Big Relief for Mercury-ruled Gemini. More good news: Moon's in friendly air sign Aquarius from Sunday to early Wednesday morning. Not only that, Chiron enters Aquarius (which means you trine it, and that's a gift) Monday. Chiron, part of a large "disk of matter" between Saturn and Uranus, is all about your wounded healer; having compassion for the suffering of yourself and others. With Mercury direct, you are now free to suffer with a smile on your face. Love: so good; Career: you're supported; Health: friends help.

CANCER
(June 22-July 22)

Water is scarce this week; all the Moons are in fire, earth and air. Today (December 1) there's a square between the Sagittarian Moon and Uranus (in Pisces), so don't be surprised if there's a delay or mix-up about your tickets or at the airport. In fact, I'd double-check my flight, if you're intending to travel. Other than that, it's not a bad week, with Mercury going direct on Saturday. At least you'll be clear-headed enough to straighten out any misunderstandings that occurred today. Love: changes course; Career: holding its own; Health: robust.

LEO
(July 23-Aug. 23)

This is a happy month for you because Leo trines birthday boy Sagittarius. Also, lions tend to be the generous souls of the zodiac, so in the month of giving you're at your best. Leos often write their lists of lucky yuletide recipients early, and shop before the juicy stuff disappears off the shelves. Just make sure you leave enough to pay the rent and take that cruise you promised yourself. You deserve it. Love: meaningful, thanks to a New Moon in Sagittarius on Monday; Career: the "Victory" card in my tarot says you've already won; Health: rest up.

VIRGO
(Aug. 24-Sept. 22)

The weekend holds goodies galore for you as Mercury (your planetary ruler) goes direct (phew!) on Saturday and Moon in Capricorn sextiles Uranus (expect a happy surprise). Jupiter (lucky you) trines Mars in Taurus, so except for the fact that Mars is retrograde until December 9, you should prosper financially. In any case, you're now free to speak your mind after three weeks of Mercurial repression. Did somebody squelch you? Well, that killjoy is long gone now. Love: declare it; Career: believe in yourself, 'cause we do! Health: you don't need Botox—you just need to relax.

LIBRA
(Sept. 23-Oct. 23)

The New Moon in Sagittarius today (December 1) makes it possible to firm up travel/vacation plans and contemplate surprisingly deep feelings about a romantic interest. Also, Mercury direct on Saturday puts you in a much better mood to communicate with someone with whom you've been on the outs. Moon in Aquarius Sunday through early Wednesday morning helps you hone mental strategies, boosting career status. All in all, a good week; don't forget to write your "gratitude" list. Love: fun; Career: you make strides; Health: dancing is exercise, too.

SCORPIO
(Oct. 24-Nov. 22)

A New Moon in Sagittarius tonight (December 1) adds sizzle to your romance. And Mercury goes direct in your sign on Saturday, so you're thinking more clearly and making decisions that stand up in the weeks ahead. Don't second-guess yourself at this point. I drew the Queen of Cups (a Scorpio woman) from my tarot deck for your card this week. She's the Queen of Intuition. Trust yours: You know it's your greatest asset. Love: cut it a break; Career: keep your head while all others around you are losing theirs; Health: what's life if you don't enjoy it?

SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 23-Dec. 20)

The New Moon in Sagittarius today (December 1) gets December, your birthday month, going with positive, life- changing opportunities. Things just keep getting better as Mercury (in Scorpio) goes direct on Saturday night. Fire and water can equal steam, so make the most of a romantic offer that comes your way over the weekend. Or, conversely, you could simply be a wet blanket and take a pass on one of those soul-mate moments that happen once in a New Moon. Love: ever wonder what could happen with someone who is not your "type"? Career: wide open; Health: take action.

CAPRICORN
(Dec. 21-Jan. 20)

On Saturday night, Mercury goes direct in Scorpio, and Moon's in your sign through Sunday night. There are so many wonderful aspects throughout the weekend, you'll feel thrilled to be at the banquet of life. You like to be clearheaded, and that's what Mercury direct offers, especially in the relationship department. With Moon sextiling Jupiter and Mars to fire up some (lucky) romance, then conjuncting and sextiling Venus on Sunday, you'll be happy you got that extra-whitening toothpaste. Love: smile! Career: don't sweat the details; Health: frisky.

AQUARIUS
(Jan. 21-Feb. 18)

You get a shot of mental Novocain on Saturday, as Mercury goes direct, restoring intellectual clarity and insight. As you coast on a plane of undisturbed higher thought, be sure to have notebook and pen at the ready, to record the many ideas percolating in that big brain of yours the past few weeks. Plus, Moon's in Aquarius from Sunday to early Wednesday, giving you fuel to pull some all-nighters (I've heard Shakespeare's best were produced this way.) Love: the tarot card "Science" indicates that a like-minded companion shows up soon; Career: tops; Health: be creative.

PISCES
(Feb. 19-March 20)

Last week I spoke of Pisceans who vote Republican. Now let me tell you about the many who are Democrats. Pisces is, in fact, a democratic sign. That's because it's the final sign of the zodiac and includes traits of all the other signs. Also, there's a huge variety of the species, from sharks to guppies. This Saturday, when Mercury goes direct, you'll contemplate your place in the great sea of life with a clear mind, and choose, with certainty, to swim left or right. Love: they flip for you; Career: give someone a break; Health: chill out.
