Boredom Is Good!

I'd recommend you deliver a few more papers to the public library on West Charleston. I've taken about 22 copies of your latest issue (February 10) in order to mail them to my friends and family all over the globe so that they might read the brilliant article on boredom by T.R. Witcher. I haven't read anything so on-point in a very long time.

Ode To a Ballad

Our January 27 cover story, "The Ballad of Shiloh Edsitty," about the 12-year-old boy stabbed in the chest last year, prompted this response:

Shiloh Edsitty—what a ballad; what a kid. This story should be read to the jury of the accused killer (we know that's impossible, just wishful thinking). I admire Shiloh for his bravery; such a young kid to go through so much, he deserves all our admiration. And (foster mother) Vivian should think about writing a book on how to raise kids (if she hasn't already). Being able to nurture and teach kids from adolescence through their teen years and on to adulthood, with all the changes generations of kids go through, is amazing.

Well, thank you, Las Vegas Weekly and Joshua Longobardy. Shiloh and Vivian, my condolences. And Teresa Tilden, Shiloh's mother, God bless your soul.

Actually, We Think Hilary Duff Rocks, Too, We Just Periodically Insult Her to Rile Up the Kids

Another defense of Hilary Duff comes in from some teen zone:

You know what! That's your opinion, not a fact. Get a life because this movie rocks! If you think this movie sucks so bad why did the box office receive $10,411,980? Let's see you answer that! Hilary Rocks so back off and keep your comments to yourself!

Can Someone Help This Guy?

Hi, my name is John. I am trying to get ahold of anybody I can beg for help. My wife is the biggest Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies fan I know, and we were psyched to hear that they are coming to Las Vegas. I called the House of Blues today to see about ticket availability and they told me that the show is sold out. My wife has been in the hospital for the last month due to complications from back surgery. She had a ruptured disc due to back problems as a teenager and also having grown worse from childbirth and work. She had several complications (spinal fluid leaking and her 6-inch wound reopening three weeks after the surgery). She was going to have to attend the show in a wheelchair and fight the pain to see her favorite band. Is there anybody anyplace who can help us? I am completely willing to buy the tickets ...

On top of everything, this was to be her birthday gift (her birthday was on February 14th). I will do anything to have a way to get my wife into the show. I know it's a sob story but it's the only story I have. Thanks to whoever reads this. I appreciate your time.

Ode To a Cover Model

I enjoy your magazine very much. Though I don't go out very much, it is nice to see what is going on for the week. You will probably get a hundred letters on this, but the female on your February 10-16 cover is absolutely stunning. I like the glasses and pigtails, and the dress looks good, also.

If Shannon is single, I would like to go to a movie and dinner with her, if possible. I am single, never been married. I work at the (NAME DELETED), in the sports book. The only day off I have is Sunday-Monday night. Sometimes I get one day off. The job takes a lot of responsibility, which sometimes cuts into my social life.

If you can forward my address and number, I would appreciate it.

Dave
