THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I'm in a very old, large, white house. I see a man's head lying on the floor. Later I see the rest of his body, headless, down the road. But I was in this house, and a song playing on the radio reminded me of good memories, like on lazy summer afternoons. It made me sad and want to run away.

Kimbra, 23

Lauri: The severed head most likely indicates a separation somewhere in your life. What feels disconnected in your life? Any breakups? Have you had to cut something out of your life? The head also symbolizes your thoughts, ideas and intellect. Do you need to "cut off" a certain opinion, idea or memory? This may be where the song comes in, as it was about days gone by. The need to run away suggests needing to escape something in waking life. Any past issues you need to deal with so you can move on?

Kimbra replies: This makes sense to me. My sophomore year of high school my parents divorced and our family fell apart, and nobody could be there for each other. We just went about our lives. I don't think I ever dealt with those issues properly. I hope now that I recognize this, I can deal with those issues!

ARIES
(March 21-April 20)

Saturday, Venus sextiles Uranus, so expect the unexpected in love and romance. If you feel insecure around a certain someone, the moment passes by Sunday morning. Happily, Moon in Aries trining Mercury and Saturn makes you steady as a rock where career and work are concerned. Saturn in Leo comes through for you, inspiring you to greater heights of glory. Don't let Mercury retrograde on Monday get you down. It's in Sagittarius, a sign you trine, so ride it out for a few weeks with grace. Love: pragmatic; Career: make the necessary arrangements; Health: be still.

TAURUS
(April 21-May 21)

Here's how astrologers plan: Mars is in Taurus, so there's big energy around money and income now. However, Mars is retrograde, and will be until December 9. An astrologer (or any Taurean) would explore all possibilities during this "lag" time: cultivating friends in high places; updating résumés; editing cherished projects; buying a new interview suit, and expecting that the heavens will open and bounty will rain down upon her/him in one month. Hey, call them fools. What've they got to lose? Love: a sure thing; Career: have faith; Health: go ahead—glow.

GEMINI
(May 22-June 21)

Moon's in Gemini Wednesday morning, but until then you'll resonate with Moons in Aries and Taurus starting Friday night. Mercury (your ruling planet) goes retrograde Monday night, and it's in Sagittarius, your opposite sign, so you might have a disagreement with someone you like a lot but who's very different from you. It's hard to get non-astrologically-minded friends to understand that these things don't last forever; in this case, until December 3. A full Moon Tuesday could make you blue. Love: emotional; Career: has its ups and downs; Health: tears can cleanse.

CANCER
(June 22-July 22)

The Moon is full on Tuesday night, in compatible Taurus; you'll feel "full of yourself." Today (November 10) through Friday, Moon's in friendly water sign Pisces. It trines Jupiter at noon today, sextiles Venus and conjuncts Uranus, a winning combo promising windfalls and romantic surprises. Monday, Mercury goes retrograde for the next three weeks. Others will groan and moan, but it won't have much of an effect on you. Your meanest poltergeists were banished when Saturn left Cancer in July. Love: prepare; Career: moving nicely; Health: did you get your flu shot?

LEO
(July 23-Aug. 23)

Venus sextiles Uranus Saturday in fire sign Aries, so don't be surprised if someone you've been hoping would show up—does. Moon also squares Venus that day. The rule of thumb for such an aspect is: "Don't let 'em see you sweat." In other words, play it cool, but no so cool they think you don't care. At a party, you might corral someone from your career support group and discuss a new idea you've been contemplating. Since Moon trines Mercury and Saturn, it could be the start of something big. Love: act cordial, not horny; Career: welcome feedback; Health: pump some iron.

VIRGO
(Aug. 24-Sept. 22)

Mercury in Sagittarius retrogrades Monday, so you may find that travel plans have to be revised, or that tickets, once so cheap and plentiful, are now pricey and scarce. Try not to have huge expectations for the holidays. You might even consider staying home, saving yourself the bother of airport angst, as Mercury doesn't go direct till December 3. On the other hand, with a full Moon in Taurus Monday, and Uranus going direct in your opposite sign of Pisces, you'll find you just can't sweat the small stuff this week. Love: huge; Career: better; Health: ditto.

LIBRA
(Sept. 23-Oct. 23)

Though not ruled by Mercury, air signs are affected by a Merc retrograde, from Monday through December 3. The reason: You guys are cerebral types, and you trine Gemini, which is ruled by Mercury, planet of thought and (during a retrograde) mental shenanigans. Whatever happens, don't take it personally, especially if it involves holiday travel plans. You see, Mercury is in Sagittarius, the sign of travel, so airport and other transportation stuff can get funky. Love: passion rules; Career: be patient; Health: if you must go, travel light.

SCORPIO
(Oct. 24-Nov. 22)

Mercury's back in your sign on November 26, but until then it will be (retrograde, no less, on Monday) in Jupiterian Sagittarius, so you may find yourself in the company of annoyingly silly people in the coming days, which you abhor. (You prefer caustic wit to slapstick.) Try to be gracious when your spouse's/lover's relatives pull out their Gallagher tapes, or force you to play Twister. It's only once a year (unless they live here, you poor thing). Love: you'll go through fire until Mercury goes into water; Career: your refuge lately; Health: boring (a good thing).

SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 23-Dec. 20)

Your opposite sign, Gemini, is about to go retrograde (Monday through December 3). That can throw you off, especially if you're thinking of a lovely, quick getaway to a place where they've never heard of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, Mercury retrograde can make the natives restless, especially those who work at the airport, so if you must travel, travel light, and don't be rude to people who have power over your luggage. And whatever you do, don't try to smuggle in exotic birds. Love: it's a blast; Career: smashing; Health: stay calm.

CAPRICORN
(Dec. 21-Jan. 20)

Monday and Tuesday are a mixed bag for you. Moon's in Taurus and trines Venus in your sign, bringing earthy pleasure to bulls, goats and virgins. However, Mercury also retrogrades that day, and since it's in Sagittarius, travel (or publishing) plans could change or go awry; maybe not. During a retrograde it's often things you never could have thought of in a million years that happen, like your neighbors getting stuck at the airport and calling you, of all people, to pick them up. Love: stay in; Career: you take a step up; Health: get thee to the gym.

AQUARIUS
(Jan. 21-Feb. 18)

Moon enters Gemini Wednesday and perks you up, since you've spent several yucky days with Moon in water, fire and earth. Mercury will, however, go retrograde on Monday, so things could drag a bit until December 3, when the planet of thought goes direct again. You're rarely bored, however, especially when on the trail of a brilliant new idea, and Moon square Uranus Wednesday should deliver one. Love: look up from that book; Career: must interest you; Health: the Queen of Swords in my tarot deck says to decline extra helpings (just for a week, to make space).

PISCES
(Feb. 19-March 20)

Uranus in Pisces goes direct on Tuesday, just as Mercury retrogrades, so you may find yourself moving in two directions at once. But today (November 10) there are so many planets in the heavens making beautiful music with the Moon, also in your sign, that everything should take on a positive spin this week. Moon trines Jupiter, sextiles Venus and Mars and conjuncts Uranus. You're successful, in love and having your own surprise party. That should help out a lot. Love: glamorous; Career: wear a suit; Health: My psychic take: You're in good shape. Enjoy!
