THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

Every time I'm running in my dreams, I lean over and grab at the ground and run on all fours like an animal. The other night I dreamt I tried to walk upright, but when I stood up I slowed. I knew I could go faster on all fours so I put my hands back down on the ground and started running. Have you ever heard of such a thing?

Donna, 48

Lauri: Yes, in fact—this is a commonly reported man's dream! You get these dreams whenever there's something in your life you want, whether it's a raise or a new pair of shoes. Your dreaming mind is telling you to let your predatory animal instincts take over to reach your goal. Men, being hunters and warriors, use this instinct more than women. But some of us gals are go-getters and that's what this dream is about. Notice how you go faster when you run on all fours. Using your predatory instincts helps you reach your goals that much quicker!

Donna replies: When I was a kid, I was a real tomboy so it makes sense that I get this dream. I've started going to the gym to lose weight. Now I need to put my goals into high gear to match my inner soul. Thanks so much!

ARIES
(March 21-April 20)

Umm ... that guy/gal over there you thought you were in love with last week, the one with the blue hair and purple lips? They'll soon be a memory, replaced by someone in a business or superhero suit who wants to get married, have kids and be faithful for life. Why the total turnaround? Because Venus, the love planet, is about to exit sexy Scorpio for idealistic Sagittarius, a fire sign and a trine to you. You'll be surprised —and maybe a little disappointed—at the change, but you'll still have your memories. Love: cheerful; Career: hopping; Health: stretch.

TAURUS
(April 21-May 21)

Monday, the Moon in Capricorn trines Mars in Taurus, ordinarily a magnificent aspect that can triple your income and breathe new life into your current career (or one you've been dreaming about). Since Mars is retrograde until December 10, make the most of this momentary lag by working on lucrative projects for the duration, and cash in when the action planet goes direct. You'll be glad you had the time to maximize the benefits. Love: Venus enters Sagittarius Friday, offering a spiritual love connection; Career: partnerships benefit you; Health: hunker down.

GEMINI
(May 22-June 21)

Ordinarily, Venus in one's opposite sign doesn't augur well. However, when the love planet enters Sagittarius for a month, you'll enjoy yourself, because Gemini and Sag are friendly, playful signs, and love their freedom. And there are so many of you to choose from, since Gemini is a sign of dual personalities and Sag, the horse and the archer, is only to happy to play out the fantasies you're good at whipping up. In other words, opposites attract. Love: gallops into your life; Career: publishing, travel or the pulpit pay off; Health: Wednesday brings good news.

CANCER
(June 22-July 22)

There are two more days left for water signs to bask in the otherworldly glow of Venus in Scorpio. On Friday, Venus enters Sagittarius, indicating that romantic matters may make you feel scattered for the rest of the month. In the meantime, enjoy today and tomorrow—when Moon conjuncts Venus and trines Saturn, which could ignite an office liaison you've been dreaming about for some time. Just make sure to be discreet—Venus in Scorpio is notorious for getting lovers in hot water. Love: sizzles; Career: ditto; Health: you need some "down" time—take it.

LEO
(July 23-Aug. 23)

You'll dodge a square today (Moon in Scorpio, not your Republican neighbor) and oppose Moon in Aquarius midweek. Still, you'll bathe in the flicker of a liberating Venus in Sagittarius, and, like all fire signs through the rest of this month, should be as popular as Julia Roberts or George Clooney (unless they happen to join Scientology and get engaged to a teenager). Yes, do look out for that longed-for New World of Eternal Love. As for the popular part, I just remembered: You're a Leo. Your popularity was never in question. Love: now! Career: reach; Health: swell.

VIRGO
(Aug. 24-Sept. 22)

Did you know that Christopher Columbus (whose birthday we celebrate Monday) was actually a Virgo (born August 26, 1451)? It makes sense: Virgo is a mutable sign, meaning that you are flexible, adventurous, and adjust well to change. You are analytical and practical as well, and more than capable of making world-shaking news. Just don't let the last few days of Venus in Scorpio turn your focus from the present to past indiscretions. They're over now; feel free to move on. Love: be present for it; Career: multiple opportunities present themselves; Health: choose wisely.

LIBRA
(Sept. 23-Oct. 23)

The phrase for your sign is "I balance." But a Libra once told me you guys are more interested in "the balancing act" than in being balanced. You may be the mediator in family or friends' relationships in this, your birthday month. It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it, and Librans are often asked to referee the games people play. Try not to feel resentful when they go back to "normal" and you're left without a job. Love: receive it. Career: play fair; Health: Wednesday, when Moon's in Aquarius and trines your Sun sign, you'll feel truly balanced.

SCORPIO
(Oct. 24-Nov. 22)

You'll be in touch with your inner femme fatale or playboy, as Venus in Scorpio glides into Sagittarius Friday p.m. That gives you time to commence a longed-for affair, wear Goth makeup to a club, or see Wong Kar Wei's Venus-in-Scorpio film 2046. Friday, Moon also squares Uranus, for a surprise. I won't claim to know what yours will be, but it could mean you'll be visited by a spectral form. If it's Angelina Jolie, start packing now. Love: racy; Career: you can go to the top, as Mercury, planet of thought, enters Scorpio on Saturday; Health: swim or sink.

SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 23-Dec. 20)

Lovely news for you! Venus enters your sign tomorrow, bringing a fresh ray of hope to everything you do and every encounter with a potential soul mate, through November 5. It's a huge window of opportunity, so make the most of it. Even more good news is that Moon's in Sagittarius through the weekend, which contains a trine to Saturn (in Leo) for practical results, and a sextile to Jupiter (you'll get lucky) early Sunday morning for those staying up to wager (at the tables, or in bed?). Love: sure bet; Career: on course; Health: walk, hike or bike.

CAPRICORN
(Dec. 21-Jan. 20)

Columbus, whose birthday we (wrongly) celebrate on Monday (he was actually born August 26), had tremendous perseverance, if you've ever seen the models for his (rather flimsy) boats. You, too, know how to make the most of tenuous—even dangerous—situations. However, this week could find you in a helpful new world, as the Moon in your sign sextiles Uranus, trines Mars (though retrograde for several weeks, your typical caution will be well-placed) and sextiles Venus (you find love, perhaps at work). Love: comes on strong; Career: looking good; Health: ditto.

AQUARIUS
(Jan. 21-Feb. 18)

Your finest hours begin on Tuesday, as Moon enters your sign midday, for a three-day festival of fantasies-come-true, thanks to Moon conjuncting Neptune and trining the Sun in Libra. Jupiter is still in that fellow air sign, and should make you lucky in the relationship and career arenas, especially if you are in a business partnership. If involved in legal matters, you'll have the edge by the end of next week. Love: communicate for maximum togetherness; Career: coming up roses; Health: easy does it today and tomorrow, as you square Moon and Venus in Scorpio.

PISCES
(Feb. 19-March 20)

Sadly, Venus in Scorpio slips into Sagittarius on Friday. Water signs have been inundated with fascinating emotions these past few weeks, as the love planet in operatic Scorpio has impacted their lives. I always wanted to write a romance novel called "Venus In Scorpio," starring a hero like you, Pisces, with your emotional depth and passion. No one loves with more feeling (or can be more of a doormat, let's face it). It's almost over, but you still have two more days to dredge up the Love: go for it; Career: Mercury in Scorpio Saturday = bonus; Health: you'll live—well!
