Bits From The Best

Mandel pours it on in Vegas

Kirk Baird

Riding high on the success of his new prime-time game show, NBC's Deal or No Deal, Howie Mandel lands at the MGM Grand, April 18-26. The comedian turned game show host, who's looking suspiciously like Patrick Stewart these days, received his big break in 1979 cracking wise on the comedy game show Make Me Laugh. The gig garnered Mandel several talk-show appearances, which in turn landed him a co-starring role on the prime-time drama St. Elsewhere. Mandel later voiced the character of 4-year-old Bobby Generic in the long-running animated series Bobby's World. Still, it's Mandel's anything-goes approach to stand-up that he's best known for. For his MGM shows, expect lots of improvised bits from the comedian voted No. 82 in Comedy Central's list of "100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time." Sounds like a deal to us.
