Mash-Up

Tao Tuesdays?

That's right! Sources within Tao confirm that the Venetian nightclub will bring its expertise to Tuesday. The incredible success of Sutra Wednesdays with its rock and mash-ups in the lounge has now finally given way to a dedicated night of house music. Tentatively, the event will kick off May 2 and be spearheaded by Tao New York's own DJ Omar Galeano and former Teatro DJ Digital Boy (a.k.a. Luca Pretolesi). Like Wednesday, the dress code will relax ever so slightly to allow for a little self-expression, and the night will not revolve solely around bottle service—the focus will be on the gourmet electronic music. Guest DJs will grace the decks throughout the month and partiers will be treated to burlesque shows, rumored to be performed by Teatro's former staff.

Jose's In the House

More good news on the house-music front comes this week when DJ Jose 2 Hype celebrates the release of his Grassroots album Yes and accompanying title-track music video at Tabú on Tuesday. The video has already been picked up for play on Telehit's MAS Nescafe, the south-of-the-border America's MTV, and there are discussions going on with MTV Europe for broadcast. We got a sneak listen and peek at the Winter Music Conference and can say both rock, demonstrating Jose's turntable skills and sly sense of humor (it even stars everyone's favorite go-go dancer, Skittles). This is on the heels of Jose's recent release, Sin City vs. the Windy City 2, mixed by him and Chicago's Bobby D that's in high rotation on our iPod.

The Return of Tourist Thursdays

Only it's Wednesdays and has been renamed Cheezball—but don't worry, the spirit of Bob Shindelar's madcap industry misadventures is alive, well and at Tao. What used to be a monthly night of blowing off steam and releasing the inner tacky tourist trapped inside club folks gets its kick-off this week with partiers invited to put on their best Hawaiian shirts, goofy hats and Midwest attire, and enjoy the music of DJ David Christian and free sushi with bottle service until 1 a.m.

Bouncing Back

As alluring as Costa Rica is to our pal John Huntington, he jus' can't quit us. Club Rubber returns to Vegas May 27 at Empire Ballroom in the form of the 12-hour-long, 10-year anniversary Rubber A-Go-Go. Yep, you read that right, 12 hours, and given the punishment your body's going to take, that half-day is really more like a week's worth of parties. Hitting the first Vegas club (as Utopia) Huntington ever played, it features DJs Scooter & Lavelle, Beej, Danny Love, 4Real, Eric Cubiche and Motorcycle's Jes Brieden, along with the Armageddon-sexy Rubber Dolls. Call 883-8847 or 949-224-3006 for more info. Early tickets can be had at
wantickets.com and
eventvibe.com.

Build It and They Will Dance

If you haven't been down to Ice yet to check out the club's new Vegas Pin-Ups stage, what's stopping you? Not only does the club regularly get world-class DJs, but the new dance area means Amber Brovelli's sexy troupe has more room for in-your-face kicks, struts and thrusts. Best view of the action? The VIP area next to Mark Stylz's DJ booth, at least judging by the wide grins and flashing cameras of the men in attendance Saturday.

Get Your Naughty Groove On

It's never to early to start planning debauchery. "Super early bird" ticket prices that'll save you about $30 for the Fetish & Fantasy Halloween Ball end May 1. This year's party will be at the Stardust, with the city's largest dance floor, multiple rooms and more eroticism than you can shake a vibrator at. Go to
www.halloweenball.com now before Penn Jillette buys up all the tickets.

Cocktail O' The Week

Gold Maggie

Sierra Gold, $8

Ingredients

1.5 ounces Cazadores Blanco tequila

0.75 ounces Patron Citronge liqueur

6 ounces sweet and sour

0.75 ounces orange juice

Lime wedge for garnish

Isn't it enough that PT's new ultra-tavern won our Readers' Choice for best appetizers? Evidently not, as Sierra also makes a mean marg, with pure, unaged blue agave tequila and top-shelf orange liqueur. It adds up to one big glass of drinkin' fun, and just in time for Cinco de Mayo.
