Calling all fashion-forward philanthropists, AIDS activists and Strip-side socialites! If you haven't already heard, the Rock 'N Roll Fashion Fling to benefit AFAN (Aid for AIDS of Nevada) is this Friday at Celebrity! Festivities commence at 6 o'clock sharp and include a round of name-that-lifelong-Las-Vegas-local, followed by find the First Friday Frequenters and the ever-popular it's-a-small-world-after-all sphere of influence introductions, known in more populous metropolises as cocktails and conversation. Oh yeah, and in-town indie rockers The Opera are going to supply the live sound track for models to strut their stuff.
Globe Salon is in charge of glamming up the girls and guys for a fun and funky fashion show featuring new spring/summer '06 from Fornarina and American Apparel. Globe's style maven, Staci, is putting the emphasis on pretty-with-punk rock locks that glean inspiration from pre-grunge girl band the Go-Gos. With backup from Bumble and Bumble's new and improved Hair Powder and Shine Spray, their tresses will be rock 'n' runway-ready.
Fornarina has the high fashion covered with close-cut denim cat suits, warm-weather wedges and cute cardigans in gossamer poly-gauze. Making their Vegas debut, Fornarina's Mayer pant: low-waisted, slim fit, with a tapered leg and super sexy ankle zipper. Choozi Entertainment's choreography won't be the only thing keeping partygoers glancing center stage. Rumor has it that American Apparel's candy- colored cottons are going solo, with their signature hot-hued underpants the only accessory a few gorgeous guys and gals might model.
With charitable contributions coming in from chic eateries, hip hangouts and better boutiques, a raffle ticket alone is worth the $25 donation. Though a gimlet au gratis (as in: complimentary cocktails with admission) is good too. Paymon's Mediterranean Café and Sonio's Café are taking care of the catering with Ketel One Vodka and Montecristo Rum donating the drinks. And don't worry about dragging along a date; everyone you know is already going to be there.
