Mash-Up

Et Tu, Caesars?

Jumping feet-first into the pool party war is Caesars with its new Venus Pool Club. Opening Memorial Day weekend and part of Pure Management Group's empire, patrons will find luxury cabanas, big chaise lounges, air-conditioned bars, flat-screen TVs and DJs. "Big deal," you say, "every pool party has those." Well, how about frozen-towel service, Evian face spritzers, body massages and traveling drink carts serving up various versions of margaritas and mojitos? Complimenting the drinks will be lobster sandwiches and ceviche. Venus will run Mondays, a day off for many industry folks, from noon to 8 p.m.

Pass It Along

We don't remember ever seeing such a massive Memorial Day lineup in town: Madonna, Prince, Club Rubber, Boris, Tommy Lee, Deep Dish, Tiesto ... even Tito Puente Jr.! To help you save a bit of cash, Ice is offering a three-day pass for its lineup at $126 (fees included). With the metaclub's cover charges darting up to $50 per night, the pass is a bargain that will get you out of the line and inside that much faster. Not to be outdone, Empire Ballroom is offering a four-day pass for $110.25, good for May 26 through 29, that's also a line-pass.

Bully for Us

Not to be confused with In Business Las Vegas' 40 Under 40, Light will be feting it's 40 Under 40 Sunday. The list is too long by about 39 names to print here but we have to call special attention to the Weekly's own Xania Woodman, Las Vegas' queen of nightlife according to Robin Leach. Martin Stein, the Weekly's nightlife editor, was too busy adjusting his walker for comment.

Skribble on Deck

DJ Skribble has accepted a bi-weekly residency at Cherry nightclub in the Red Rock Casino. He'll spin Saturday nights in the club and Sundays on the pool deck. Catch a marathon run Memorial Day weekend: Friday at Cherry, Saturday afternoon at the pool, that night at Ice, then after-hours at Seamless.

But What Did Lou Think?

"I went to Drunk & Hearing Damage Club at the Wynn last night. It was much better than Drunk & Hearing Damage Club at the Venetian."

—The Soup host Joel McHale at the Palms' Playboy Hollywood Comedy Tour, May 13.

COCKTAIL o' the Week

Yin & Yang

The Melting Pot, $9

Ingredients

1 ounce Stoli Vanil Vodka

0.5 ounces Godiva

White Chocolate Liqueur

0.5 oz creme de cacao

3 ounces vanilla ice

cream base

Garnish with chocolate shavings and wafers in a yin-yang pattern.

Does it make sense that a restaurant specializing in fondue (Switzerland) serves up a cocktail with a yin-yang pattern (China)? Probably not. Does it make sense you can now try it out in both Summerlin and Green Valley? Without a doubt.
