THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

For the past few years, I have had similar recurring dreams that tigers are chasing and hunting me down. I'm either finding ways to hide, run or just stay still, hoping they'll leave and won't hurt me.

Melissa, 24, Danbury, CT

Lauri: Guess what? These are good dreams! Here's why: Tigers, lions or any sort of predatory animal that appears in our dreams will symbolize our ability to "hunt down" what we want in life, whether that be a job, a relationship, a promotion ... whatever. Predatory cats, as well as domestic cats, are often found in women's dreams because felines are very feminine-like and can sometimes even symbolize a gal's sexuality. These tigers that have been appearing in your dreams these last few years are symbolic of your feminine prowess ... your girl power. They are chasing you because you are afraid to acknowledge or to use these qualities. Have you been "running from" a relationship? Have you been avoiding being more aggressive at work or in other areas of your life? You keep getting these dreams because you have not recognized this part of you. You are running from it instead of welcoming it. Your dream tigers don't want to harm you; they want to get your attention. They are a part of who you are—if they weren't, they wouldn't exist in your dreams. You are telling yourself, through these dreams, that it is time for you to be fierce and assertive, girlfriend! It's in you. Don't be afraid of it.

Melissa replies: Thanks so much, this has really helped. I'm constantly struggling with being more assertive. I've always been a quiet and shy person, but I've been more assertive lately.

Fascinating Dream Fact: Tornado dreams used to be the most common natural disaster dream of North Americans, whether they live in coastal areas or inland. But since Hurricane Katrina hit a year ago, hurricanes now top the list.

ARIES
(March 20-April 19)

Your barnyard will be lit up this week. Yes indeed, little ram, full moon today. Not only a full moon, but also, 10 minutes later, a lunar eclipse. Pluto moves forward. Mercury and Venus put some fire in your daily work. You may find co-workers a little chatty when Mars travels into the relationship department with a load of energy. Keep your values to yourself, though. Mercury enters Libra on Sunday, and friends become friendlier. Everyone wants to communicate. You may feel you have mastered a few skills in the daily work department. Don't schedule business meetings on Saturday.

TAURUS
(April 19-May 20)

Mercury enters Libra on Tuesday, and that's your house of daily work. Mars arrives there Friday. Good communication with co-workers. Use the energy wisely, little bull. Stay out of arguments on Saturday while Mercury and Pluto snarl at each other. Full moon in Pisces today with a lunar eclipse 10 minutes later. You may get a sudden opportunity to reveal a few ideas to members of your church, groups or clubs. Your sister earth sign, Virgo, continues to celebrate her birthday month. This eclipse could bring changes over the next several months. Remember, little bull, you can feel the effect of the full moon up to four days before it arrives and as long as four days afterward. Go with the flow.

GEMINI
(May 21-June 21)

The universe is sending energy to your creative department. Indeed, pull out the pen and pad while Mercury, the communicator of the zodiac, slides into your space of creativity. Mars joins in with action and energy. The full moon sends a huge beam to the career department today and a lunar eclipse occurs 10 minutes later. This afternoon should be full of energy. The eclipse could bring a change in some way. The sun and Venus produce an opportunity to communicate from the home front. You may experience a few financial changes. A better career pattern could be forming.

CANCER
(June 21-July 22)

Your sister water sign, Pisces, is hosting a full moon this afternoon, and you and all the other critters of the zodiac are invited. The main event will be a lunar eclipse 10 minutes later. Okay, little crab, wave your little claws—that's your ruling planet in action. Your sign is ruled by the moon. Family, the home and, indeed, dear old mom are ruled by the moon, and all are important in your life. Does your sandcastle need repairs? Go ahead. Most of the planets are in the lower part of your chart. Yes indeed, changes could flow your way. But don't worry, little crab, the changes appear good. Some of you may return to higher education and others may advance their knowledge through travel.

LEO
(July 22-Aug. 22)

The sun and Venus bring a glow to the space of earned income in your chart. Much excitement occurs today. Full moon in Pisces this afternoon and a lunar eclipse 10 minutes later. This could bring a change. Mars sends action and energy into the neighborhood. The red planet enters the sign of Libra tomorrow. Roar softly on Saturday, little lion. Don't attempt to share your values or creative ideas with anyone when Mercury picks a fight with Pluto, the power planet. Mercury dashes into Libra on Tuesday. That means excellent communication with siblings and friends and neighbors. The eclipses over the next two weeks could bring change to your jungle.

VIRGO
(Aug. 22-Sept. 22)

Happy birthday as the birthdays roll on, little Virgo. Yes indeed, you are grounded and down to earth. Today is lunar eclipse and full moon day. The eclipse in the sign of Pisces could bring change in some of your relationships, both business and personal. Keep your words soft and tender on Saturday. Don't tick off a family member. Your friendships through work flow easily. On Tuesday, you may discuss your values with others. Mercury says let's communicate. Mars says have some energy. Don't deal with a female on Wednesday as the moon squares off with Venus and Uranus. Spend time with friends and celebrate your birthday.

LIBRA
(Sept. 22-Oct. 22)

Mars and Mercury enter your sign this week. Mercury opens the door for communication and Mars brings action and supplies energy. Now hold on before this occurs. Full moon this afternoon followed by a lunar eclipse 10 minutes later. The eclipse could bring some sort of change with co-workers and your daily work.

Before Mercury visits your sign on Tuesday he collides with Pluto on Saturday. That will not be a good time to negotiate any deals. Now watch your spending. Jupiter in the money space sometimes encourages you to spend more than you should. Remember, you are the sign that balances the scales. Mars encourages you to get things done in a hurry.

SCORPIO
(Oct. 22-Nov. 22)

Full moon today followed 10 minutes later by a lunar eclipse. Scorpios who have children may see changes. And some of you may see changes in love relationships. Great time to work behind the scenes. Expect the unexpected in the creative department. Some of you may return to school, and others may be busy getting the children off to school. Saturn is encouraging you to get organized. Avoid being impulsive. I know you feel the energy. Yes indeed, full moons do this to water signs. We all feel the emotion from the full moon for four days before and four days after it occurs. This week, you get a bonus—an eclipse. Eclipses bring changes.

SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

Pluto in your sign ended his retrograde period last week, so he's full speed ahead. Several planets are center stage in the career department. You are in a cycle of change. Yes indeed, a lunar eclipse follows the full moon today. Everything that has been slow suddenly speeds up. You may find yourself involved with groups, clubs or organizations. Mars provides energy. Mercury encourages you to communicate. This is a busy time in the workplace. Co-workers come to you for advice. Venus is in the career department. Talk with people in authority. The boss is friendly. Keep your words on the soft side while Mercury confronts the power planet, Pluto, on Saturday. Celebrate a Virgo's birthday.

CAPRICORN
(Dec. 21-Jan. 21)

Throw a birthday party for a Virgo, an earth sign like you. You probably will feel the energy of the full moon today and tonight, little goat. Your mountain will glow. The full moon will be followed by a lunar eclipse in Pisces. Changes could flow your way. Eclipses bring a change. You may experience a few changes in your neighborhood. You also may notice changes in a sibling. Uranus, the ruler of Pisces, the sign where the eclipse occurs, is the planet of sudden change. Yes indeed, the eclipse could point to flaws in finances, and this will allow you to make changes. Could be a change in the career department.

AQUARIUS
(Jan. 21-Feb. 20)

Full moon today followed by a lunar eclipse in Pisces. Meet with your banker on Tuesday. Mercury travels into Libra. On the personal level, you will not feel the eclipse, although it may show you where to make changes in your financial planning. Now a few of you little geniuses may decide to make a job change. Remember, this eclipse is in the sign of Pisces, which is occupied by Uranus, your ruling planet. On Saturday, Mercury has issues with Pluto. Make sure other people understand what you say. Avoid miscommunication. Other people send energy.

PISCES
(Feb. 20-March 22)

The full moon will occur in your sign today followed 10 minutes later by a lunar eclipse—yes, in your sign, too, at 15 degrees of Pisces. Eclipses bring change. Your social schedule is full, little fish. Many of you may experience changes in your relationship. Some remain the same, some grow stronger and others fall away. Some of you may make changes in your appearance. Many little fish may take the long journey. Now on Saturday, don't get into disputes when Pluto, the power planet, riles Mercury.
