THE CONSUMER: Pets Are For Spoiling

And here’s the place to wrap your pup in elegance

No. 1. You think dressing up a dog is silly.

No. 2. You think dressing up your dog is cute.

No. 3. You think if you and your dog had the perfect matching outfits, together you might someday rule the world.

And you could be right. Pampered pooches in designer duds do garner the occasional green-eyed guffaw—your fur kid in a ladybug costume or polka dot dress is absolutely adorable. And a stylish uniform is integral to any attempt at global domination, that's a given.

But with high-end pet retailers popping up all over town, what separates the Strip shops from their suburban counterparts? Not a lot, until Marc Lavallee and Arica Dorff's Pet'ographique opened last month just outside Vegas' swankiest master-planned community, Anthem.

Pet'ographique is part fine accessories boutique, part photo portrait studio and all lavish luxury, bringing the boutique shopping experience that pet mommies and daddies have long enjoyed to the pets themselves. "We know all our clients by first name," Lavallee says. "And by clients, I mean the pets. Even the thank-you cards are addressed to them!"

Lavallee and Dorff, who own and operate the store, know their stuff—from the handmade gowns to the Swarovski-encrusted collars to the all-natural doggie biscuits in 17 different shapes, coated with carob-sweetened yogurt. For an extra special event, custom cakes are available.

And don't forget to create a gift registry for your new puppy, cat birthday or dog wedding. "The tuxedo is on its way," promises Lavallee, as he shimmies the petals on a mermaid-inspired couture doggie dress. "But you can bring in your own fabric for the bridesmaids." Besparkled party collars and hats are on hand to adorn pet guests.

With Lisa Welsh's solid sterling-silver fire-hydrant pendants, wrought-iron canopy pet beds and Ruff Ruff and Meow matching Mommy and doggie tanks in 70 sayings and colors, what more could you need, except a picture of your precious pooch? Dorff will work her magic in the on-site studio, or pose your puppy at home. Final images are projected life-size, to ensure the portrait is a perfect representation of our future world leader.
