Troubled bridge over water

Joshua Longobardy

How is it that wind gusts cause such a delay?

The cranes took about 18 months to erect in the first place, and they will take 18—20 months to set up again.

What happens if strong gusts, not an uncommon element in Southern Nevada, hit again?

I can't speculate on the weather. But the Hoover Dam Bypass project will be completed, even if Mother Nature occasionally poses challenges.

How much more [than the original budget called for] will the project cost now?

If there are any cost adjustments, they will likely be due to 20 months of inflation on project materials [like asphalt] whose prices may fluctuate due to market conditions between now and the time bypass work can resume. The project's costs were expected to be around $240 million, and we expect to finish at, or below, that figure.
