THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I have this recurring dream about getting raped. It's like a comic strip; every night it starts off where I left off. I never see his face, only a dark shadow on his shoulders. I try to run but I can't.

Jennifer, 27, Manteca, CA

Lauri: Recurring dreams are like a broken record—they mean that you are stuck somewhere in your life. The dreams cannot move forward until you move forward. To dream of being raped is certainly no fun! But the dream is not about physical rape at all (unless you were raped in real life and never got help with that). Dreaming of rape usually means that you are feeling taken advantage of, or that someone is forcing their thoughts and opinions on you ... or that you are feeling forced to do something against your will or better judgment. Rape is not about sex; it's about power. You are not able to see the rapist's face because this is all about an issue or a behavior you have not wanted to "face." And that is precisely why the dream keeps coming back, because you have not faced this problem and dealt with it. You are nagging yourself, through this dream, that something needs to be done, that your behavior needs to change.

Jennifer replies: Yes, I do tend to avoid confronting people who treat me that way. I am actually working on that, but it's really hard to say what I feel or even say no to people when they really need my help.

ARIES
(March 20-April 20)

Venus enters your sign on Wednesday. The sun enters Pisces on Sunday, just as the Chinese New Year rolls in. This is the year of the boar. Monday is Presidents' Day, and many of you may enjoy a long weekend. Tuesday is full of excitement with Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday, and the next day is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Use your energy wisely with such an eventful week. Mercury remains on his retrograde course for a few more weeks, garbling communication and messing up transportation. With the new moon arriving on Saturday, go ahead and set a goal or two. Make your wish. Present your ideas once Mercury turns direct. You could find some new friends.

TAURUS
(April 20-May 21)

You are practical and down-to-earth, dear little bull. You are dependable, even though Mercury requires a few detours while on his retrograde journey. The new moon arrives Saturday, the day the last of the later-born Aquarians celebrate their birthdays. The sun moves into Pisces. This should keep you grounded with groups, clubs and organizations. Talk about the goal you set during the new moon. Continue to stick to your budget, little bull. Don't allow Mercury retrograde to knock you off schedule. Such a busy week indeed. Many of you may enjoy a long weekend with Presidents' Day on Monday.

GEMINI
(May 21-June 21)

On Sunday, the sun travels into Pisces. Oh my, dear little Gemini, this brings a smile to your career department. The new moon arrives on Saturday in Aquarius. Then you two air signs can come up with a brilliant idea. When the new moon occurs, you can go ahead and set your goals. Write down your wishes. You may expect the unexpected.

CANCER
(June 21-July 22)

The new moon on Saturday should put a nice glow on the water, little crab. Sunday is another nice day when the sun ventures into water sign Pisces. Yes indeed, wave your little claws, because Sunday is also the Chinese New Year (Year of the Boar), and on Monday, a few of you little crabs will enjoy a long Presidents' Day weekend. Your oyster pals may share a pearl or two on Tuesday just in time for Fat Tuesday. This is the month to get in touch with your feelings. Remember, new moons bring new opportunities. Mercury remains retrograde for a few more weeks. Go ahead, make your wish and set a goal.

LEO
(July 23-Aug. 23)

You love to party, and many of you little lions may take the week off. The sun moves into Pisces on Sunday. On Saturday, happy birthday to my son, Mike. The Chinese New Year of the Boar arrives Sunday. You little lions love jewelry, so you may sport a string of beads on Tuesday. Yes indeed, it's Mardi Gras time. Venus moves into your fellow fire sign Aries on Ash Wednesday. Mercury remains retrograde. I know it is tricky and some of your messages are not clear. Some messages could get lost. Use the new moon on Saturday to set your goals. Write down your wishes. Many changes. You may be surprised by who your friends and allies are.

VIRGO
(Aug. 23-Sept. 23)

With such a full schedule, dear little Virgo, you have little time to detail and analyze everything. With Mercury retrograde, I know you have missed a few calls and experienced a few delays. The new moon arrives Saturday. Set your monthly goal. Talk about your wishes. In fact, you may write down a few of your wishes. On Sunday, the sun moves into Pisces, and that brings a glow to the relationship department.

LIBRA
(Sept. 23-Oct. 23)

I know, dear little peacemaker, you love to balance. With half of the planets visiting Pisces this week, it is impossible. Your daily work takes center stage this week. Sunday rolls in with the sun venturing into the sign of Pisces. Remember, on Saturday, the last of your Aquarius friends mark their birthdays. Sunday is the start of the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Boar. Okay, a new moon arrives on Saturday. Make your wish for the month and set a goal or two. Venus moves into Aries on Ash Wednesday. This should put some sparkle in the relationship department. Get ready to greet both new and old friends.

SCORPIO
(Oct. 23-Nov. 22)

This should bring a grin to your face, dear little detective. Yes indeed, through this week, half of the planets will take up residence in the creative space of your chart. This, my dear Scorpio, occurs rarely. The new moon arrives on Saturday. Set your goals. Write down your wishes. Do not begin any new projects without expecting delay or re-dos. The Chinese New Year, the Year of the Boar, starts Sunday. Monday is Presidents' Day. Venus journeys into your daily work department. The sun and Uranus bring sudden changes. Work on creative ventures. Slow and steady growth heads your way.

SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

The home front takes center stage this week. Well, my friend and dear little traveler of the zodiac, this could be good. The new moon occurs on Saturday. Go ahead, make your wish and set a goal or two. With Mercury retrograde, you may choose to work from the home front. Venus travels into your fellow fire sign Aries on Wednesday. This brings fun, luck and love to your plate. Let others talk for you while Mercury is retrograde. Work on your creative side but do take time off. Go run around the playground.

CAPRICORN
(Dec. 22-Jan. 20) We know you love to work, and your slogan is "waste not, want not." This week, you may experience a few delays, and, yes indeed, a few mistakes may be made while Mercury is retrograde. With the sun's journey into Pisces to hook up with Mercury in the space of communication and Uranus, the planet of surprises, expect a few surprises indeed. Now go ahead, make your wish with the new moon on Saturday. Sunday brings the launching of the Chinese New Year—the Year of the Boar. On Wednesday, Venus travels into Aries and oh my, little mountain goat, love arrives on the home front.

AQUARIUS
(Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Happy birthday, dear little genius. Now if you have not made your wish and set your goal for the year, do it now. The new moon occurs on Saturday. Yes indeed, that's in your sign. With your birthday party begins a week of celebration. On Sunday, the sun moves into Pisces and could produce a bonus in your earned income department. Monday may bring a long weekend with the celebration of Presidents' Day. Yes indeed, opportunities could move your way after this new moon in your sign.

PISCES
(Feb. 18-March 20)

Happy birthday to you, little fish. Now swim into your month of birthday celebrations. With the new moon this week, you have an opportunity to set a goal for the year. Set your goal for the month, too. Now write down your wishes for the year and the month. Venus travels into Aries and sends light to your earned income. Go ahead, little fish, tell others what you value. Happy birthday again, little Pisces. You may be surprised by the gifts you receive this month.
