Mash-Up

Get Slammed

On Thursday, the NBA All-Star Kick-Off Event VIP Players Party goes off at Empire Ballroom, and rumored to show are Playboy model Lisa Mackay and founder of CEO Clothing Damon Dash. The now-defunct Ice Nightclub will get some life pumped back into it—at least for the weekend—as Allen Iverson and friends present Club AI: Welcome to Vegas, those friends being DJ Kid Capri, Nelly, Lil Wayne, Ashanti and Ja Rule; the event will disperse $5,000 in cash. Sapphire brings in Tyrese, and Shaq hits Mix. Voodoo boasts host Shawn Marion for yet another cleverly titled NBA Kick-Off party, and Sean Paul of the Young Bloods can be found at Sin. The NBA Street Home Court Launch Party lands at Moon, following the video game tournament where Tony Parker and Carlos Boozer will both be picking up a joystick.

Things heat up Friday night with Club AI: Welcome to Vegas Part 2 at Ice giving away another $5,000. At 54, LL Cool J puts on the second installment of Ladies Night Out. Diddy hosts the Adidas Party at Jet along with Tracy McGrady, and the All-Star Weekend Jam at Risqué is hosted by Vince Carter and Clipse. Akon and Shaq preside over the Welcome to Las Vegas Party at Rain, and LeBron James sees the Light. Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade hosts an NBA All-Star Party at Rumjungle with performances by Rich Boy and Slim Thug, and a fashion show by Rasjudah, while Nick Cannon and Complex magazine groove out at Body English. Headlining Saturday at Pure are hosts Eva Longoria and Tony Parker. Akon appears at Risqué, and LeBron James has another bash at Empire, this one hosted by Russ Parr. Magic Johnson's Player's Party at Studio 54 is hosted by Allen Iverson and features DJs Kid Capri and Biz Markie. Cross-sport promotion begins when San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson parties at Rumjungle, with Shaq slated as a special guest. Diddy is Downtown at Ice House Lounge, promoted by Forever First Entertainment, and has brought in the custom-built, two-story Press Play Lounge for the weekend. And Scores will get into the fray with its own 2007 Babes and Ballers All-Star Party.

OPM is poised to own Sunday, the actual day of the game, as it throws the Official Baller's Ball 2007 NBA All-Star After-Party. Expected attendees include Gary Payton, Kanye West, Lil Jon, Fat Joe, Nick Cannon, Dwyane Wade, Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett. Meanwhile, at the Palms, the Back in Black affair is at Rain with T.I, Diddy and Kendra encouraging all-black attire, and Jamie Foxx hosts his own All-Star Party at Empire. Alizé Presents the Fifth Quarter Magic Johnson's Official All-Star Game After-Party at 54. LeBron James and Celebrity Friends take over Ice, and Lamar Odom and Stuff magazine host a special night at Jet.

James "Hollywood" Robinson goes into Overtime at Rumjungle with a live performance by Jim Jones, and Body English closes things out with the Official All-Star After-Party with Akon and DJ Benny-D. And ladies, this bubb's for you: Gals in basketball jerseys enjoy free champagne all night long. We can't look. Is it over yet?

A Little More Magic

MAGIC Marketplace winds down in the wake of All-Star weekend, but three events on Thursday will put the exclamation point on the semiannual fashion fiesta. Soundbar at Tabú pairs NYC's Kerri Chandler with Vegas' House Society Crew (Keith Evan, Carlos Sanchez and B. Minogue); Nicky Hilton will use Pure to set the scene for the debut of her Nicholai couture line; and Light gets the last word with Triple Five Soul and BPM magazine's MAGIC Party III. We're sorry if we appear at all distracted by all this basketball hoopla. It won't happen again.

Next Stop: Total World Domination

The Fifth annual Club World Awards groove into South Beach on March 21 during the Winter Music Conference. And wouldn't you know it, Vegas has once again dominated the nominations! Pure is nominated for both Best Superclub as well as Best Resident DJ for DJ AM's work there. Tao is nominated for Best Club, and Tabú will defend its three-year reign as Best Lounge against the awards show's host club, Prive. Freshly picked for honors this year is Cherry, appropriately in the Best New category, plus the Best Sound System, Best Interior Design and Best Lighting System categories.

Jet, too, is up for Best Lighting System, with an additional nomination for A/V within the Best Weekly Party arena. A/V continues to get more recognition with Roonie G himself nominated for Best Resident VJ. Congrats all!
