Hit Me, Pussycat

Not that it was ever in question, but it has finally been made official that the legendary Pussycat Dolls will add a gaming venue to the already substantial list of reasons to go to Pure Nightclub. Schedule to open in early February, the area adjacent from the Pussycat Dolls Lounge will feature themed slot machines, blackjack, craps and roulette tables, along with a big six wheel and retail area. Making sure the gaming feels as naughty as possible, the table legs are, well, legs, in fishnet tights and stiletto heels; the chairs are covered in pink fabric and leopard-print, and the dealers, of course, are in Pussycat-themed outfits. Punctuating the burlesque ambiance, two go-go dancers get down in bronze cages hanging right in the middle of the sultry pit. Meow.

If you gift them, they will come

That which began as a humble film festival in sleepy ski town Park City, Utah, has morphed into a media frenzy and brand marketing dream come true. Despite sub-freezing temperatures, numerous Vegas companies have deployed promotions teams armed with oodles of free swag to represent Sin City alongside all the other brands that latch on to the 10-day fest, which is as much a barometer of trends as what Paris, Oprah or Brad touched today. Among the celebrity gifting suites we found Tao, Body English, Chef Kerry Simon, NapkinNights, Fresh Water events, SpyOnVegas, CineVegas, Intermix and tons of Vegas DJs, local celebs and nightlife luminaries. The air may be cold but the nights are hot!

Polly Want a Bar?

One sign that the Stratosphere is finally gearing up for the launch of Polly Esther's—its retro-themed, four room nightspot—is the installment of Cbar. As a large center bar (now open) located right outside the Polly Esther's space, Cbar will ideally serve as a pre- and post-party meeting place before or after soaking up the sounds of Culture Club and the Village People. Until the arrival of Polly Esther's (initially slated for a New Year's opening; March 16 was the latest we heard), the spacious open area is anchored by—what else—a replica of the Stratosphere Tower.

Cocktail O' The Week

The Ultimate Fresh Apple Martini

Tempo, Hilton $9.75

1.5 oz. Vox Apple Vodka

1 oz. Granny's Sour

Apple Liqueur

Shaken with fresh green

apple puree

The juice of a fresh lime

Garnished with an apple chip

An apple a day this way will keep at least a headache at bay, but not sure about the doctor. With close to fresh-off-the-tree ingredients, this martini doesn't have the too-sweet sourness that some apple drinks are engulfed with. It has a smooth and fruity blend, along with a vodka punch that is the perfect way to sip away an evening.
