Cocktail Of The Week

Nippers Juice
Hooters Casino Hotel
 $8

Justin Jimenez

At first I thought Hooters had just bought into another sexual double entendre with this signature drink, but it turns out the orange daiquiri-like summer cocktail has a bit more back story. The big Hooters originates from Southern Florida, and the original crew there frequented a place in the Bahamas called the Nippers Beach Bar & Grill on Guana Cay. They fell in love with the slushy drink they had there, and its coloring fit the Hooters scheme.

They decided that the frozen blended treat definitely needed to be part of the Hooters casino-hotel. There is even a Nippers Bar out by the pool to make the beverage feel at home. To this day, the recipe is a family secret; Hooters reps will say only that there are four kinds of rum and several fruit juices. A couple in the sun can sneak up on you quickly.
