Mash-Up

Do you have the balls?

A pint with a purpose

While most pubs and clubs are just starting to gear up for St. Patrick's Day, McMullan's Irish Pub is diving headlong into a cause that goes much deeper than a glass of green beer and a button instructing you to kiss the wearer. On Saturday, March 10, St. Baldrick's Foundation will take over the brilliant beer hall, shaving the way to a St. Paddy's Day party like none other. Benefiting the fight against childhood cancer, the entertainment of the evening entails the shaving of an estimated 100 heads. Each shavee has been collecting donations for losing their locks and to raise awareness of the disease, with all the proceeds going to fund the battle against the largest killer of children in the United States. Since 2000, the organization has raised more than $8 million, and in the process has created a valid reason to actually spend all day at a pub and not get yelled at by your wife. The party starts at 4 p.m. To find a shavee and contribute to the cause, you can show up in person or donate online at www.StBaldricks.org.

YouTube, Vegas-style

That oldish adage "What happens here stays here" is officially a load of BS. Curse you, information age and the blog you rode in on! It used to be just a moment of panic after an obscene night out when you found a card in your pocket reading "View your photo at somerandomwebsite.com"—and you had no recollection of a photo being taken in the first place. Now, following the evolution of media on the web, Vegas is moving into the realm of digital video to further document the not-so-private life of Sin City. Two relatively new websites, RawVegas.tv and WatchItVegas.com, are broadcasting both professional and amateur on-demand exploits of the nightly debauchery in our glowing oasis, from Wild Web Weddings to red-carpet Strip soirées. The only thing worse could be a reality TV show about aspiring singles in the Las Vegas entertainment industry ...

Such a Teese

After rebranding the sleek MGM revue La Femme with the original Parisian namesake Crazy Horse Paris, the sensual show continues to branch out, with burlesque queen Dita Von Teese joining the show April 15-20. She will import her infamous Le Bain bathtub act. She has graced the pages of Playboy, been married to and divorced Marilyn Manson and she can pull her waist down to a scary 16.5 inches with a corset. Hip-hop? Really?? Hip-hop???

That's what they're saying. Night owls who frequent Drai's Afterhours at the former Barbary Coast—now Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon—report being stunned to hear hip-hop music booming in the historic hot spot's back room. Insiders say the move is to keep Drai's up-to-date with other clubs offering multiple musical environments. "This was started to give a new dimension to Drai's. House music will continue in the front and in the lounge," says Drai's director of operations, Martine Jordan, who teases us with promises that more changes will be announced soon. For now, mash-ups maestro DJ Justin Hoffman has been imported from Tryst to do the honors Friday and Saturday, starting at 3 a.m.

Pour out a little liquor

"You always have to spill a little for good luck."
