Fly like a beagle

Much like the soaring dog in the Rev. Ethan Acres’ artwork “Miracle at La Brea” (No. 1), many of the once-local artists featured in the new exhibit Las Vegas Diaspora: the Emergence of Contemporary Art from the Neon Homeland have taken off to distant compass points. (Acres now lives in Alabama.) Some, of course, remain. Check out the variety: “Little Lulu,” by Wayne Littlejohn (2); “Like a Heat Wave,” by Thomas Burke (3); “Lifted,” by Jacqueline Ehlis (4); “Untitled (echo),” by Sherin Guirguis (5); and “545S,” by Jack Hallberg (6). Opens Sunday at the Las Vegas Art Museum, lasvegasartmuseum.org.
