Letters to the Editor

Publisher’s note

Not being the sorts of people to stand still, we made a few management changes recently. And we thought we ought to fill you in on them.

Pat Kelly, who was publisher of Las Vegas Weekly for the past six years, traded our local glitz for a beachcomber’s life in Mexico. This opened the door for all kinds of shrewd career moves inside our offices.

I assumed the role of publisher, back after launching Las Vegas Weekly in the summer of ’98. I have a history with alternative weeklies, having been a writer and editor at the nationally recognized New Times chain back in the day, whenever that was.

Nelson Oshita, who has been sales manager of the Weekly for the past year, moves into the new role of associate publisher. In this position, he’ll be responsible for most of our regular operations. It’s a full-time job.

Stacy Willis, meanwhile, is now our Editor, with a capital “E,” after four years of editing and writing under various titles on the masthead. She’s already played a central role in the Weekly’s editorial evolution.

In case that’s not enough for you, Ken Miller, managing editor, and T.R. Witcher, associate editor, have joined us from Las Vegas Life.

As for the rest of the team, they’re still here, and by now, probably plotting their own shrewd career moves.
