Turning back time as Cher hits Las Vegas

Julie Seabaugh

The year was 2005. A Thursday. The joint: The Elvis Room, a 200-capacity cellar bar in the bowels of St. Louis’ Blueberry Hill. Not a relation to the local chain, but the memorabilia-crammed venue/landmark that doubles as home base to legendary axman Chuck Berry. Karaoke night, and I had been downing Blue Moons since early afternoon. The song: Cher’s “If I Could Turn Back Time.” I do a mean Alanis Morissette, but I do an even meaner Cher. I even do a little dance. Knocked ’em dead. The contest prize: Second, equaling a $10 bar tab. Blue Moons on me.

Beginning May 6, 7:30 p.m., $95-$250. The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, 866-510-2437.
