Beyond the Rope: Collier Minerich—Making a case for charity

Hometown: Seattle, WA

Age: 33

Profession: Director, Las Vegas Wealth Group

Profile: Charity events have historically been the domain of blue-haired old ladies—but no more. Collier’s nightlife resume began when he was just a 17-year-old club promoter in Seattle. Since arriving in Vegas five years ago, he’s worked with Pure, Empire Ballroom, Tao, Revolution and, currently, Privé. Along with the high-society mother-daughter team of Vegas’ Shari and Shana Sanderson and blogger Ron Costa, Collier helped establish the Las Vegas Wealth Group in January 2007. Together, they produce high-end charity events with touches of Vegas nightlife excitement, like R&B artist Usher’s $1,500-per-ticket Rebuild and Restore event to benefit 9/11 and Katrina survivors. Held at the Four Seasons, the event featured actor Danny Masterson, recording artist Jon B. and the legendary Doug E. Fresh.

Why I Do What I Do: “I don’t want to work in the clubs full-time anymore, but I still want to be involved. I can use all the contacts I’ve made, all these people I’ve met through the clubs and use them to make these events more interesting, more enjoyable and more fun. Unless you’re going to let me revamp your entire event, I’m gonna have to pass!”

Personal Tidbit: Like many folks in nightlife, Collier has an incongruous day job. Having dabbled for years in residential lending, he three months ago took the plunge into full-time commercial real estate with Sperry Van Ness. After five years of going to bed at 6 or 7 in the morning, he’s finding it strange to now wake up at that time.

What I’m reading: The Art of War, by Sun Tzu; The 48 Laws of Power, by Robert Greene.

Latest Accomplishment: Optimistically, Collier’s latest accomplishment is a successful Make-A-Wish dinner and gala at Planet Hollywood on May 17. For just $250 per ticket you can enjoy performances by the cast of Stomp Out Loud and Clint Holmes. Visit LasVegasWealthGroup.com for info and tickets.

Quote: “Extraordinary people with extraordinary lifestyles.
