The Pink Spiders: Like Radiohead—but half

Julie Seabaugh

Thom Yorke & Co. made headlines by offering In Rainbows for download at any price—even free—before releasing it in stores last month. Now infinitely catchy Nashville pop-rockers The Pink Spiders may be following suit, having made six tracks from their upcoming third effort available at myspace.com/thepinkspiders. Will seven unheard songs from a largely unheard-of trio be enough to entice fans and newcomers when Sweat It Out is released this spring? Or is the band banking on the touring-and-merch-is-more bottom line? Either way, it’s a precedent for baby bands maturing in the digital age.

With The Horrorpops, Steve E. Nix and The Cute Lepers. February 20, 8 p.m., $14.50. The Canyon Club, 387-5175.
