See one of our favorite movies. Weekly film critic Mike D’Angelo picked My Kid Could Paint That as the best movie of 2007 (he called it “a profound, unsettling treatise on filmmaking ethics”), and if you missed it during its brief run in Las Vegas theaters, now’s your chance to catch up. The documentary about a celebrated painter who happens to be 4 years old, and the controversy that surrounds her work, will be out on DVD March 4.

Support classical music. Yes, we realize your weekends are valuable, but come on—there’s absolutely nothing on TV, and we know you love music (otherwise you wouldn’t be watching American Idol, now, would ya?). This weekend you can hear everything from Beethoven to The Beatles (no word on whether “Roll Over Beethoven” will be performed), courtesy of a trio of very talented string musicians in a program called—what else?—Strings, part of the “Stars of the Philharmonic” series at Sun City Summerlin’s Starbright Theatre. March 1, 7 p.m., March 2, 2 p.m., $20 Sun City residents/$25 non-residents. Starbright Theatre, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd., 240-1301. suncity-summerlin.com/starbrighttheatre.htm

Get catty. Every Madame Monday at CatHouse, a different local female nightlife celebrity holds court in the Loungerie’s plush 19th-century bordello-like digs much the same way a successful madam may have done after a particularly good weekend of gentlemen callers. Or, in this century, ballers. Party with the Weekly’s own Xania Woodman as she hosts Madame Mondays on March 3 with sounds by DJ Crooked. And if you like the Luxor’s new Hot Spot, you can tell her yourself.

Take the leap. You leap-year babies might not have technically turned 21 yet (you won’t until you’ve been around 84 years ...), but the Palms is willing to let that slide. On Friday, February 29, party with DJ Skribble at Rain as he celebrates his new Total Dance 2008 album—No. 1 on the Billboard dance charts—with a party so hot it could only happen every four years anyway.

Head Downtown. Remember when there were places to see live music on Fremont Street? And then there weren’t? Well now there’s almost too much to see Downtown. (Not that we’re complaining!) This weekend alone, you can check out dance-punkers The Chinese Stars Friday at Beauty Bar and follow it up with psych-rockers Spindrift (pictured) Saturday at the Bunkhouse—for a grand total of just $10. The Chinese Stars with Flaspar, The Laymen. February 29, 10 p.m., $5. Beauty Bar, 598-1965. Spindrift with The Pandas, Sparkler Dims. March 1, 10 p.m., $5. Bunkhouse, 384-4536.
