Escaping to the studio

Julie Seabaugh

Love or hate his unofficial debut at March’s Extreme Thing, former Blessthefall frontman Craig Mabbitt is now a permanent member of controversy-plagued hardcore rockers Escape the Fate. The Vegas band began recording their sophomore effort this month with the replacement for former vocalist Ronnie Radke, who is serving five years probation for his involvement in a fatal May 2006 fight. Produced by The Used and Story of the Year vet John Feldman, the follow-up to Dying Is Your Latest Fashion is due out this fall. According to Mabbitt’s MySpace page, “The Flood”—alternatively titled at Extreme Thing by bassist Max Green as “If I Could Stay Sober, I Could Stay With My Band”—will make the track list. The quartet plays Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California, June 13.
