Nightlife News & Notes: EDC week gigs, a new(ish) gay bar and more

XS managed to beat its own attendance record with the May 25 edition of its Night Swim party, featuring Avicii. The Encore megaclub claimed 11,000 people cycled through during the evening, eclipsing the crowd at the David Guetta-headlined version of the same party last LDW.

SLS revealed details for its second major nightlife spot, Foxtail. The 8,000-square-foot indoor playground includes an ultralounge and an open-format (read: not exclusively EDM) nightclub, and it comes with an adjacent pool for daylife offerings. Interesting design elements will include street art by Tarek Benaoum and 3D mapping technology that will project onto a nearby hotel tower and parking garage. Foxtail will join the intimate, concert-friendly Sayers Club and the 20,000-square-foot dance space/rooftop pool called Life.

Gay video bar Quadz aims to celebrate its grand opening this summer, after opening its doors March 19 in the Fruit Loop space formerly home to the Buffalo. With pool tables, darts, music videos and a weekly promo night dedicated to show tunes, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Did we mention Lagunitas and Abita made the tap list?

Former Swedish House Mafia principals Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso will reunite sans Steve Angello at Light on June 21, the duo’s only club gig. … Bassrush has announced two parties for EDC Week: a daytime event featuring a series of bass-DJ squareoffs June 19 at Hard Rock’s Paradise Beach, and an 18+ massive party at Brooklyn Bowl later that night headlined by Flosstradamus. ... TW Theater has launched a weekly hip-hop/R&B night called Upscale Thursdays. … The creators of Distill will open a second bar on July 12 in Southern Highlands.
