Events guide: Mother’s Day 2012

If mom is the primary chef in your family, it might be nice to give her a day off. If you don't trust your own culinary skills, play it safe and take her to one of the many local restaurants serving special Mother's Day menus. Mom can get complimentary drinks, flowers, even a free meal at some venues.

Area Sugar Factory locations are offering several Mother’s Day sets, including the Chocolate Fix Gift Set for $10 and the Sugar Factory Candy Girl for $62, plus a number of customizable options. A limited number of Mother’s Day heart charm couture pops will also be available for $25.

Max Brenner in The Forum Shops has a wide variety of treats for mom (all Kosher!) including a Mother’s Day box of bonbons priced at $12.90.

See’s Candies offers a variety of treats with special Mother’s Day packaging with a festive spring theme. Chocolate caramel lollypops, a new item, are also available in time for the holiday.

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas offers free admission to mothers with the purchase of an adult or child’s admission ticket.

Canyon Ranch Spa Club at The Venetian and Palazzo offers several Mother’s Day specials. The Mom’s Ultimate Day of Luxury package includes a massage, custom facial and a meal credit. The Mommy-To-Be package includes a Mellow Mama Maternity Massage, facial and meal credit. The Moms-On-The-Go package includes a Healthy in Heels massage, facial and a meal credit. The Mom and Daughter package includes a pair of facials, side-by-side spa pedicures and a meal credit. Nevada residents can receive a 10 percent discount on spa services. The Mirage Spa and Kim Vo Salon offer several Mother’s Day specials. Treat her to a Mom Knows Best manicure ($85) and pedicure ($145) featuring a pomegranate scrub and a chocolate truffle wrap. The Beachy Clean manicure and pedicure package ($145) features a clementine-scented soak and mango-melon shea butter cream. Moms-to-be can enjoy the Mellow Mama pregnancy massage for $140-$195. If you’re looking to send mom to a show this Mother’s Day, Absinthe is offering guests $20 off reserved seating with the code ABS20 and Peepshow is offering guests $30 off P1 seats with the code 20SAVE.

Qua Spa at Caesar’s Palace offers Mother’s Day specials on the aromatherapy facial ($180 per person) and the Mother’s Day package ($370 per person) featuring the coffee berry yoga facial and the Fountain of Youth skin treatment. To book a treatment, call 866-782-0655.

Danny Wright presents Heart 2 Heart: A Mother’s Day Celebration at Bootlegger Bistro’s Casa di Copa Room. The event features a four-course dinner followed by stories and music from pianist and singer Danny Wright. Reservations are required and tickets are $60. Call 736-4939 for reservations.

For new mothers, Rio Spa & Salon offers the New Mother-to-Be Experience. This service features a customized prenatal massage with aromatherapy to stimulate the senses and a paraffin treatment to soothe. To book an appointment, call 702-777-7779.

For the sleuthing mothers out there, CSI:The Experience will be offering free admission for moms for parties of two or more.

Mothers and grandmothers will be treated to free bull rides at PBR Rock Bar and Grill in celebration of Mother’s Day. Families who dine there can also get one free child’s entree with the purchase of a regular menu entree.

Nove Italiano at the Palms offers a Mother’s Day cooking class on May 12 starting at noon. Chef Geno Bernardo guides participants through a five-course menu, including tips on how to make heirloom tomato salad, veal sweetbreads, lobster ravioli, salmon with caper salsa verde and Harry Berry strawberry gelato with shortcake. The cost is $85 and includes wine and specialty cocktail pairings. For reservations, call 942-6800.

On May 12, Charleston Heights Arts Center presents its annual Mother’s Day dinner and dance featuring food from At Your Service Catering beginning at 7 p.m. Following dinner, participants can enjoy dancing to swing-era music performed by Walt Boenig Big Band until 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance by calling 229-6386 or at www.artslasvegas.com.

On May 12 from noon to 5 p.m., Lush Cosmetics at Mandalay Place offers a special Mother’s Day party. Book a complimentary in-store face or hand treatment. Be one of the first people to arrive with your mom and she will receive a free trial size of the new Putty for Your Hands hand cleanser.

Special Mother’s Day meal options:

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar offers a three-course brunch menu plus a $25 gift card for moms to use on a future visit. Menu items include filet mignon Benedict, New Orleans-style French toast, prime rib, filet mignon cobb salad and a choice of dessert, including white chocolate bread pudding, crème brulee or walnut turtle pie. The menu is priced at $34.95 per person or $16.95 for children. Brunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Garfield’s Mother’s Day menu includes a complimentary glass of champagne for moms and offerings like fried soft shell crabs, chilled shellfish and corn soup, grilled salmon and mole marinated chicken breast. For desert, try bananas foster bread pudding or beignets with dipping sauces. The price is $47 per person.

Ferraro’s offers a Mother’s Day brunch menu priced at $49.95 featuring menu choices like eggs fiorentina, carpaccio torcello, osso buco, quail, coiglio brasato, lombata Milanese or Parmigiana, crab cakes, pesce del giorno and risotto funghi, plus a dessert sampler.

Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio Bar and Grill offers a special menu featuring a la carte items like warm brioche doughnuts, house smoked salmon with bagels, baked apple pancakes, grilled prime flat iron steak, scrambled egg pizza, pink lady apple salad, crispy calamari and rock shrimp, English pea agnolotti, linguini with Manila clams, free range chicken breast and grilled Scottish salmon.

Coconuts at Town Square offers free meals for moms and grandmothers, plus corsages from A Country Rose Flower Shop in Henderson. For reservations, call 823-5051.

All four area Hash House A Go Go restaurants offer a special Mother’s Day menu featuring a al carte items like cherry dark chocolate chip pancakes, Sally’s Wild Child Waffle, Stella’s shrimp quesadilla, and drinks like the Strawberry Bramble, lime-melon margarita and Gruet Rose sparkling wine. For reservations, call the West Sahara location at 804-4646, the Imperial Palace location at 254-4646, the M Resort location at 797-1500 the Plaza Hotel and Casino location at 384-4646.

Waverly’s Steakhouse at the Cannery offers a three-course prix fixe menu featuring wild mushroom soup, seared halibut, steak au poivre and a molten chocolate lava cake for dessert. The meal is priced at $34.95 and reservations can be made by calling 507-5777.

Vino’s Ristorante (open 5 to 9 p.m.) at the Cannery is offering a special menu item — Dover sole filets stuffed with salmon mousse — for $14.99.

The Cannery Row Buffet will offer specialty menu items like maple and beer braised pork loin, seafood thermidor, salmon Milano and shrimp scampi, in addition to the normal carving stations and omelet stations. The buffet is priced at $11.99 with a CAN Club card or $13.99 without.

One Six Sky Lounge at the Eastside Cannery presents a special brunch offering impressive views of the valley plus a seafood station, omelet station, carving station, full salad bar, eggs Benedict, chicken roulade, truffle macaroni and cheese and lemon pesto rack of lamb. For desert, chose from strawberry mousse, tiramisu, warm bread pudding, three layer chocolate cake or carrot cake. The cost is $34.95 per person.

Carve at the Eastside Cannery offers a special three-course menu beginning at 5 p.m. Menu highlights include wild mushroom soup, halibut with crisp pancetta, steak au poivre and molten chocolate lava cake. The meal is $39.99 per person.

The Cannery Row Buffet at the Eastside Cannery offers up its usual spread of menu items for only $7 on Mother’s Day, with a CAN Club card.

Simon at Palms Place hosts a Mother’s Day Brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. priced at $49 for adults and $29 for children. Menu highlights include hot cross buns, Simon bread pudding, herb roasted salmon, green bean casserole, baked mac and cheese and strawberry shortcake. For reservations, call 944-3292.

California Pizza Kitchen has partnered with the National Charity League for a Mother’s Day fundraiser. For every slice of red velvet cake sold between May 11 and 13, the restaurant will donate $20 to the charity.

The Cortez Room at Gold Coast offers a special Mother’s Day menu from 3 to 9 p.m. featuring choices like corn chowder with bacon, seared swordfish, mixed grill, and zabaglione custard with fresh berries for dessert.

The Ports O’ Call Buffet at Gold Coast offers a Mother’s Day champagne brunch featuring chicken a la reine soup, prime rip, chicken cordon blue, pork chops, trout almondine, maple glazed ham and mussels marinara. The meal is priced at $13.99 for B Connected card members and $15.99 for nonmembers.

Main Street Station’s Garden Court Buffet offers a Mother’s Day menu featuring prime rib, honey glazed ham, turkey, pork loin, tamales, oxtail stew, vegetable lasagna, ambrosia salad, three bean salad, pumpkin pie, apple pie and an assortment of sugar free deserts. Brunch is served from 7 to 10:30 a.m. and the special menu is served from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is priced at $15.99 for B Connected card members and $16.99 for nonmembers.

Billy Bob’s Steakhouse and Saloon at Sam’s Town offers a Mother’s Day menu from 4 p.m. until closing priced at $25 per person. Menu highlights include a petite filet mignon, blackened ahi tuna, blueberry cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake and red velvet cake.

Sam’s Town’s Firelight Buffet offers a special menu served from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. priced at $13.99 for B Connected card members and $16.99 for nonmembers. Menu choices include turkey breast, baked glazed ham, prime rib, seafood penne pasta, grilled salmon filet, a holiday chocolate fountain and strawberry shortcake.

Lobster Thermidor at Comme Ca.

Comme Ca at the Cosmopolitan features a prix fixe menu priced at $55, which is available all day. The three-course meal includes a glass of rose wine and a bouquet of flowers for each mom. Menu highlights include Dungeness crab salad, English pea agnolotti, lobster bisque, petit filet mignon, lobster thermidor and white chocolate beignets. Call 698- 7910 for reservations.

Tacos and Tequila celebrates with a Dia De Las Madres brunch priced at $25 per person. The three-course meal includes items like albondigas soup, chorizo-potato relleno, chicken sabana, and the Mama’s Banana Split for dessert. There will also be a special cocktail featuring Patron XO for $10.

Enjoy a prix fixe menu at Tender Steak & Seafood for $49. Mothers and their families can enjoy a three-course meal featuring items like a 10-ounce New Zealand rib eye, pan roasted Skuna Bay salmon, Mom’s Famous Yankee Pot Roast and dessert options like strawberries and cream, and crème brulee. All mothers will leave with a complimentary box of chocolates.

Central at Caesar’s Palace offers its Mother’s Day four-course menu priced at $50 per person. Specialty items include a frisee salad with poached egg, deviled eggs, crap soup, asparagus salmon, braised lamb shank and chocolate cherry gateau or cheesecake with raspberry coulis for dessert.

Petra will offer a Mother’s Day brunch featuring a pre-fixe four-course meal for $29.95 plus an a la carte menu. Special menu items include shrimp cocktail, trio of chilled soups, filet of beef wellington, horiatike salad, Greek capresese souvlaki, salmon pappillot and a trio of desserts served family style. Moms also receive a special gift.

The Barrymore at The Royal House offers a special Mother’s Day Brunch featuring lobster eggs Benedict, French toast and an assortments of mimosas and Bloody Marys. Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sushisamba at Palazzo offers a Mother’s Day brunch featuring doce de leite French toast, quinoa waffles, lobster eggs Benedict, snow crab frittata and a special Mother’s Day cocktail featuring muddled orange, triple sec, orange juice and fresh guava. Items are priced a la carte and are offered from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Trevi in the Forum Shops will be offering complimentary bellinis to moms all day on Mother’s Day with the purchase of an entree.

Moms dining at The Palm in the Forum Shops can enjoy the Sunday Dinner Prix Fixe Menu plus a $25 gift card for a return visit. The menu features lobster bisque, filet mignon paired with bacon wrapped scallops and a choice of New York style cheesecake or crème brulee for desert. The price is $58.90 per person.

Rice & Company offers the Hot Mama Sushi Roll for $18. The special roll includes salmon, asparagus, spicy shrimp, spicy tuna and puffed rice served with a spicy mayo sauce. Guests can also enjoy the Mama Son’s Kiss made with Ketel One Oranje Vodka, Yuzu liquor, muddled strawberries and lemon juice.

Café Siena at the Suncoast offers a special Mother’s Day menu from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. featuring items like blackened New York steak and shrimp, Beijing beef and tiramichoc for dessert. It is priced at $16.95 per person.

Salvatore’s Ristorante Italiano at the Suncoast offers several a la carte Mother’s Day specials including lobster dainties, pappardelle with crab, osso bucco, prime rib and Australian sea bass. The special menu will be served from 2-9 p.m.

SC Prime at the Suncoast also offers a special menu from 2-9 p.m. featuring a la carte items like grilled filet mignon, pan roasted chicken breast, grilled Chilean sea bass and black forest chocolate cake for dessert.

The Oyster Bar at the Suncoast offers a Mother’s Day menu from 4:30 to 9 p.m. for $19.99 per person. Menu highlights include lobster bisque, Pacific halibut, jumbo scallops and fresh fruit cake for dessert.

Canal Street at The Orleans offers a special menu from 5 to 10 p.m. on Mother’s Day featuring menu items like Madriline soup, Asian chicken lettuce wraps, crab meat stuffed filets, grilled seafood and a chocolate sampler plate for dessert.

Coasta Cantina at The Orleans offers a special Mother’s Day menu from 4 to 10 p.m. priced at $15.99 per person. Menu highlights include lemon and lime shrimp, enchiladas nortenas, rib eye and, for desert, margarita cheesecake. The menu is priced at $15.99 per person.

The French Market Buffet at The Orleans offers a special champagne buffet menu for Mother’s Day priced at $14.99 for B Connected members and $15.99 for nonmembers. Brunch is served from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and dinner is served from 4 to 9 p.m. Menu highlights include egg and omelet stations during brunch plus crab stuffed roasted salmon, steamed mussels, kung pao shrimp, smoked duck, baked Virginia ham, beef ribs and rotisserie chicken.

The Prime Rib Loft at The Orleans offers a special Mother's Day brunch menu from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner menu from 2:30 p.m. to closing. A la carte menu items include bananas foster French toast, lobster Benedict, Parmesan-crusted orange roughy, asparagus and wild mushroom frittata, spicy Thai seafood salad, crème brulee, chocolate ganache cake and apple strudel.

Carlos ‘N Charlies, new to The Flamingo, celebrates Mother’s Day with a shot special for moms. The M.I.L.P.H. shot consists of vodka, peach schnapps, and cranberry juice and stands for Mamacitas I Like Party Hard. The free shot will be available, one per mom, from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m.

Ceres at JW Marriott offers Mother’s Day brunch seating from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Menu items include a seafood buffet, omelet station, carving station with prime rib and turkey, a special children’s buffet and desserts like strawberry shortcake, éclairs, crème brulee, chocolate mousse cake and New York style cheesecake. The menu is priced at $52 for adults and $24 for children. For reservations, call 869-7381.

The Carmel Room at JW Marriott offers a three-course Mother’s Day dinner from 3 to 9 p.m. featuring items like shrimp or scallop Dijon, duck rillette salad, shrimp scampi, steak frites and strawberry Romanoff for dessert. The menu is priced at $55 per person. For reservations, call 507-5955.

The Rampart Buffet offers a special Mother’s Day menu from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. featuring items like assorted seafood, buttermilk fried chicken, rigatoni carbonara, glazed ham, prime rib, baked salmon, crepes made to order, chocolate mousse cake and strawberry shortcake.

Grand Lux Café offers brunch menu items for Mother’s Day including Tuscan farmhouse eggs, crab and asparagus omelets, red velvet pancakes and drinks like the blood orange mimosa.

All Feast and Festival Buffets at Station Casinos will increase their buffet options with additional Mother’s Day specialties like prime rib, turkey with walnut sage stuffing, eggs Benedict with lobster hollandaise and desserts like strawberry shortcake, bananas foster and chocolate fudge cake.

Pasta Cucina restaurants at Aliante Station, Boulder Station, Palace Station, Sunset Station and Texas Station put an Italian spin on Mother’s Day with a la carte specials available May 11 to 14. Specialty menu items include ricotta flatbread, roasted salmon and sautéed chicken.

Terra Verde at Green Valley Ranch offers an all-you-can-eat Mother’s Day buffet from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. priced at $36.95 per person. Buffet items include smoked poached salmon, lobster and crab salad, crispy stuffed French toast, tomato mozzarella salad and various pastries and desserts.

T-bones Chophouse at Red Rock Resort offers an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. priced at $65 per person. Menu highlights include mimosas and champagne, chilled shrimp and crab claws, peppercorn crusted beef tenderloin, eggs Benedict and orange scented brioche French toast.

The Broiler Steak & Seafood at Boulder Station has a la carte specials including artichoke stuffed with king crab meat, grilled sea scallops over roasted spaghetti squash, baked lobster tail and for dessert, fresh strawberries over handmade short cake. The specials will be offered May 11 to 14.

Austins Steakhouse at Texas Station is offering a Mother’s Day meal for $49 that includes options such as a seafood bisque appetizer, pan-seared lemon sole with jumbo lump crab meat, mesquite grilled filet mignon and dessert of Bosc pear and almond clafoutis.

The Charcoal Room at Santa Fe Station celebrates with special a la carte items that include gazpacho, grilled wrapped bacon filet mignon, pan-seared bacon-wrapped halibut, and frozen crème Anglaise with rum cherries and dark chocolate shavings. The specials will be offered May 11 to 14.

MRKT Sea & Land at Aliante Station offers a special three-course meal for $75 that includes a salad with hearts of palm and artichokes, an entree of steak Diane served with Tristan lobster tail and chocolate cake with ice cream. The meal will be offered May 11 to 14.

Hank’s Fine Steaks at Green Valley Ranch Resort offers a la carte specialties including melon and goat cheese salad, grilled filet mignon and pan-seared turbot filet. The specials will be offered May 11 to 14.

Society at Encore offers a Mother’s Day brunch from 11:30 a.m.- 3 p.m. priced at $38 per person. This includes a blood orange mimosa for each guest plus a flower for each mother in the party. Menu highlights include fresh fruit smoothies, Society's famous "XL" Sticky Buns, egg white frittatas with vegetables, mac & cheese bites with truffle dipping sauce and dessert choices include Oreo and Reese's ice cream sandwiches or brulee cheesecake with strawberry compote.

The Top of the World Restaurant at The Stratosphere offers a Mother’s Day brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner from 4:30 to 11 p.m. In addition to the impressive view, enjoy specialties like butterscotch pancakes, lump crab and spinach quiche, oven-baked Scottish salmon wellington, hazelnut-crusted lamb chops and lobster-filled free-range chicken breast.

On Sunday evening, mom can enjoy a complimentary dinner (valid for one mom per table) created by the chefs of the Mirage. Decadent three-course prix fixe menus were designed by chefs at Onda Ristorante, FIN, Samba, kokomo’s and Japonais. Other family members and guests can enjoy the three-course prix fixe menus for $49.99. Additionally, Las Vegas locals who bring mom in for dinner at Stack will receive 20 percent off the total bill.

Moms can enjoy a complimentary brunch at Cravings buffet Saturday and Sunday with the purchase of a full-priced adult buffet ($23.99). Specialty items include bone-in ham, seafood gratin filet of beef, potato-crusted cod, fennel orange salad and a variety of sushi and dim sum.

Ranch House Kitchen, new to Town Square, celebrates moms with a choice of a complimentary glass of champagne or a mimosa during brunch from 8 a.m. to noon. A professional photographer will be available for family photos, along with balloon artists and face-painting for children.

Marche Bacchus French Bistro and Wine Bar offers a four-course menu priced at $49 per person. Menu highlights include heirloom tomato salad, house smoked salmon tart, seared scallops, braised short ribs, pan-seared halibut, crab and asparagus Benedict and a chocolate mousse trio or strawberry parfait for dessert. Moms will get a complimentary mimosa or glass of champagne. There will also be a children’s menu priced at $15. For reservations, call 804-8008.

The Buffet at Wynn offers a specialty menu for both brunch and dinner. Menu highlights include omelets, Belgian waffles, prime rib, rosemary-roasted leg of lamb, lamb chops and Alaskan crab legs. Brunch ($37.99) runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner ($47.99) runs from 1 to 10 p.m. Limitless champagne, bloody Marys or mimosas are available for an additional $10.

Moms can eat free at The Flame Steakhouse at El Cortez with the purchase of an adult meal. Mothers must be 21 years or older and a member of Club Cortez.
