Art & Deception is a new one-man parlor show that pulls audiences into the shadows and spotlight of deception. Blending close-up magic, mentalism, and narrative theater, the show explores the dual nature of illusion – the kind used to swindle, and the kind used to inspire. Created and performed by Atlanta magician Chris Moorman, Art & Deception invites audiences into a world of crooked gamblers, card mechanics, and confidence men from eras long gone. Their stories – and the strange thread that connects their downfalls – become the backdrop for a live demonstration of the sleight-of-hand techniques and psychological misdirection used by grifters. The audience, believing they are being let in on the secrets, slowly discovers they are being led somewhere far stranger.

The show doesn’t stay in the shadows. Juxtaposed with these darker stories are personal

reflections on the light of deception — the kind that creates wonder, joy, and shared moments of

astonishment. As is seen, illusioncraft does more than entertain. It becomes art. With a high degree of audience participation, humor, and intimate close-quarters magic, every performance is

uniquely immersive and personal. The show is suitable for families and ideal for date nights, group outings, and anyone who loves magic, theater, or storytelling with an edge.

Chris Moorman is a magician, storyteller, and entertainer who performs at public shows, private events, and corporate functions. He’s seen in Atlanta at the Four Seasons Hotel (Magic & Mixology), Academy Theatre (Sunday Variety Series), and Red Light Café (Atlanta Magic Night); and around the country, in venues/shows like Magic Monday LA in Santa Monica and Kellar’s Magic & Comedy Club in Erie, PA.

During the pandemic, Chris’ magic was featured in monthly on-line episodes of Bellevue, Washington’s Wintergrass Music Festival. In 2024, Chris collaborated with opera-singing friend Eddie Gammill to produce and perform The Crooner & The Conjuror – winner of an Audience Choice Award at the Atlanta Fringe Festival; and tagged “Best in Fringe” at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, D.C.
