Quick Bites: Las Vegas restaurants making news this week

Lotus of Siam hosted a grand opening party at its new restaurant location at Red Rock Resort on November 9, featuring a traditional lion and dragon dance, costumed artists performing a Ramakien (the Thai version of an Indian epic) and much more. The Summerlin spot is now open for dinner Sunday through Thursday from 4 until 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. until midnight, as well as lunch Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. A bimonthly brunch is set to launch on November 26. The Golden Tiki is kicking off Thanksgiving weekend with the return of its annual Charlie Brown Thanksgiving on November 23 at 7 p.m. The classic cartoon special menu of jelly beans, popcorn, pretzels and gourmet buttered toast will be served on the ceremonial ping pong table, and the event will also mark the official launch of a new seasonal cocktail menu. Green Valley Ranch Resort brings back its seasonal Winter at the Terrace holiday-themed pop-up lounge starting on November 25, offering festive décor, cocktails and light bites Sunday through Thursday from 4 until 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 4 until 11 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome but reservations for tables and igloos are recommended by calling 702-617-7744.

Japanese dessert chain Beard Papa’s is set to open in Las Vegas on December 3. The cream puff chain founded in Osaka in 1999 has more than 400 locations in 15 countries and its grand opening at 7325 S. Rainbow Blvd. #110 is set to debut at 10 a.m. that day, offering giveaways to the first 100 customers.

Cheapshot on Fremont East has crafted a special cocktail, A Fresh Start, to benefit Caridad and its mission of humanizing the homeless. The proceeds from each purchase of the $15 cocktail— made with Casamigos tequila, vanilla syrup, lemon, lime and passionfruit—goes to Caridad through the end of the year.

Stone crab is back at Siegel’s 1941 at the El Cortez. From now until spring, the restaurant is serving stone crab claws with dijonnaise sauce, coleslaw and cottage fries for $49 per pound, available Friday and Saturday from 5 until 10 p.m.

El Luchador Mexican Kitchen has launched new fall menu items at the Henderson and Mountain’s Edge locations from executive chef Lorena Telles. Among them are the birria quesadilla, a duo chile rellenos, the green chili carnitas burrito with ranchero beans and pickled onions, and Milanesa de puerco, a breaded pork chop with roasted squash, onions and chile morita sauce.

Also from Hooper Hospitality Concepts, Locale Italian Kitchen has unveiled new seasonal dishes  for fall, including grilled octopus with limoncello glaze and Brussels sprouts, a 12-ounce Wagyu meatball with whipped herb ricotta, saccettini with beef broth and parmigiano, and butternut squash ravioletti with brown butter.

Top of the World at the Strat has new dishes for fall on the menu from executive chef Chad Castanino, including polpetti tartuto with country tomato sauce and Manchego cheese, wild mushroom ravioli with sweet soy sauce and spicy yuzu aioli, pappardelle pasta with duck confit ragu, and blackened salmon with lobster, bacon and gnocchi chowder.
