Quick Bites: Las Vegas restaurants making news this week

Vegas Unstripped has announced its return, set for October 14 from 7 until 10 p.m. at a location to be determined in the Downtown Arts District. Thirty local chefs will once again join forces to present one-night-only original dishes, to be served up alongside cocktails from top local bars with art activations, live entertainment and more. Tickets are available for $150 at vegasunstripped.com.

Taking off on July 27 at Park on Fremont, Funky Tap will be held monthly on select Thursdays from 7 until 9 p.m. celebrating rare beers and ales. Each event will feature a keg tap, tastings, music from DJs and more, with the initial event starring Firestone Walker’s Bramblin’ On My Mind American wild ale made with marionberries. Yukon Pizza and Tacotarian are teaming up to create The Three Birriamigos, a pizza featuring Yukon’s signature sourdough crust and Tacotarian’s plant-based birria, available only while supplies lass on July 28 starting at 6 p.m. at Yukon on East Charleston.

Retro by Voltaggio at Mandalay Bay is set to launch its Summer Prom series on July 28 with seatings at 5:30 and 8 p.m., with events continuing on the last Friday of August and September. The events will feature a dance floor with a live ‘80s cover band, a “jungle juice” punch bowl, photo opportunities, a prom king and queen coronation and a prix fixe dinner. Guests are encouraged to dress in ‘80s attire. Tickets are $150 per person and reservations can be made by calling 702-632-7401.

138° will once again host the Killer Burgers pop-up on July 31, with a special one-night-only burger menu up for grabs. Burgers are priced at $20 and loaded fries are $16. Reservations can be made at 138restaurant.com.

Casa Playa at Encore will debut a new weekend brunch on August 12. Offered every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., the event will include live-action food and beverage stations, shareable entrees, music from DJs and a special menu including dishes like masa pancakes with piloncillo caramel and pineapple, and spicy shrimp and chorizo empanadas. Twin Creeks Steakhouse at the Silverton has launched a new Social Hour menu available Wednesday through Sunday from 4 until 6 p.m. A curated selection of wine and hand-crafted cocktails are offered starting at $15, along with the local CraftHaus Brewery Cans Collection ($8) and small bites like shrimp cocktail, bacon dates and truffle fries ($8-$15).

Balla Italian Soul at Sahara has announced new deals for locals and industry professionals, available with proof of valid Nevada ID or industry ID. Among the specials are 50% off steaks every Tuesday, and 50% off all bottles of wine every Wednesday, as well as a VIP Local Card promotion that provides other perks to premier experiences. Kassi Beach House at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas has unveiled new summer dishes for brunch and dinner, including: tuna crudo with Calabrian chili and orange vinaigrette; burrata and caviar service with Golden Osetra and Puccia bread; rotisserie chicken diavola; and roasted mushroom pizza with three varieties plus lemon cream and Parmigiano Reggiano.
